Yep. People are losing their jobs, they have computers and everyone has been told they can make money online. I'd expect the competition to increase. Doesn't matter if you can outrank them. Yesterday I noticed TARGET using Adsense on it's site... TARGET. Jeez, if Target can't sell products online and has to revert to Adsense what does that tell you? |

I agree with the post that said people are losing jobs, and they hear the can make money, etc. That is the nature of the beast - in any industry. Fortunately, you probably know more than they do, and you will probably stick with it long-term while they give up. Competition is good, makes it fun!! |

I agree, most will quit, or just get it all wrong so nothing to worry about. I just wish they would make there crappy sites somewhere else, it's almost like having a clean neighborhood and have a bunch of people come a long and dirty it up.

It doesn't surprise me at all. All the time, I see all these crappy EMD MFAs springing up for virtually any term online as long as it has the remotest chance of making a bit of money, never mind if they don't rank. It's the whole reason why nobody here would want to share their sites or their niches openly. If you read the news (not just CNN by the way) you'd have known people are marching on Wall Street and every city around the world. Their numbers are growing. Most of them don't have jobs. Times are VERY hard, and I'd have to agree that the current system we all live under is archaic, at best. I would imagine the money pool that advertisers use to advertise is drying up, while the economic vultures dealing in the darkened hallways and backrooms suck up what remains in the economy. The real beast is human nature (greed/selfishness/etc) resulting in a system that is failing, and the reality is hitting home even for IMers who previously thought they were insulated from the cold hard reality outside..... |

A few years ago, I used to browse a lot of magazines, pay attention to what was being advertised on television, and watch for trends on the news in order to find ideas for new and profitable niches. Now, there are two primary ways I find new niches. 1. I grab all the keywords from the spam comments on my websites and sort through them looking for things that sound interesting to me and then I further research it from there. 2. I check out the signature links of members in forums like this. Unless you are promoting something that would be useful to internet marketers (and even then you should be including the link more for direct traffic than any SEO benefits), it is absolutely moronic to include a signature link to your niche site in a forum like this. Why not just start a thread entitled, "Attention internet marketers. I think 'medical diagnostic sonographer' and 'sonography transducer' might be worthwhile keywords to target."??? You have thousands upon thousands of internet marketers browsing this forum. Some of them are pretty damn good at what they do. You really want to invite them into your niche? |

I'd listen to Mike and boxoun and remove that sig stat. I could give you another reason but that would just make it worse

Well, I agree that the continuing unemployment levels will force many individuals that would never think of trying their hands at Internet Marketing to give it a go. The same thing happens at post-secondary academic institutions experiencing spikes in enrollment during periods of high unemployment. That sig tip is excellent! |

Your niche may have been featured in an IM product recently. Whenever a new shiny product comes along and inside there is a case study, you can bet thousands of me too newbie affiliates jump all over it, happens a lot, that's why (most/shady/smart?) marketers never do a real case study using niches that they actually make good coin with. I have my own reasons for posting my site in the sig, but to be called a moron for doing so is crazy, I noticed a lot of internet market/ warrior forum members insult one another for no good reason, why? I'm not afraid of any would be scavenger larking on the forum trying to steal people's niches because their not smart enough to find their own. Besides there are many people entering my niche already but none are on page 1 including myself, making a site is one thing, building backlinks and content is another

I didn't call you a moron. I said what you did was moronic. There's a difference. Chances are, there are a number of internet marketers that visit this forum that are better at marketing than you. That goes for all of us. So why give them your niche? They may never have thought of it. They may never think of it. My point was that you are not only giving away your niche by advertising it here, but you are giving it away to people that are very good at putting that information to use. On other forums, hey go for it. I just would strongly recommend against it on an internet marketing forum. |

You are not living in a island, do you? Of course it is normal that what you have discovered yesterday will be someone's else discovery tomorrow, and we are talking about the world wide web where millions of curious lurkers always find ways to dig deep what T. Berners-Lee had started. Piece of advice, if it gets too crowded then move to a new discovery.
