I'm going to be setting up a new hosting account at the end of the month. I noticed that my new hosting company offers a "dedicated IP" add on option for only a few pounds. My question is, would it be a good idea to add this & what are the benefits of having one? |

I did this when I got my hosting account. The benefit is if you're on a shared hosting account, your IP could be shared with hundreds and hundreds (maybe THOUSANDS) of other websites. Who knows what's on them. Do you want your site "associated" with them? (by IP basically) Mine was only a $1/month extra option so it really doesn't break the bank. |
