Default Do articles on my site need to be on a blog?

I asked the following questions to some very prominent members of the WF and wanted to share their responses. A special thanks goes out to Alexa Smith, Kay King, Nicole Beckett, and John McCabe. If you thank anyone, thank them.

Question:
"For the article on my site, does it have to be on a blog or can I just create a new page and put the article on it? I've heard it’s good to syndicate as long as it shows the same owner (author) and that the article needs to show the same author when you try to submit it to ezine. Blogs have “author info” above the article but a regular website page wouldn't. If I got the pages route do I need to add “By: (Author Name) to each article to show that I’m the owner?"

Answers:

1.)
I don't use blogs except occasionally as a "feeder site" for a main site. (I know - unheard of). Prefer html sites and always have. Of course the article has the same author but if it's your site you don't have to list an author for your own articles.

2.) I would. It certainly can't hurt and might help.

3.) You can do it either way. On my site, I have an "Advice From the Experts" page where I publish articles and a separate blog where I post content that's more informal. I don't put a byline on any of my stuff, but you can if you want to. If I were you, I'd ask EZA if they'd prefer it, in order to show that you're the author. (I don't use them, so I'm not sure exactly what their policy is)

4.) Putting the article on a regular web page is fine. There's nothing magical about blogs.

Use a byline or tack a resource box to the end like you would to syndicate it. Not only does this establish your ownership, it helps with the inevitable theft by scrapers and autobloggers.
