And what is the best way to determine AdSense cpc payouts by keyword?

This site is better than other sites, but it's a little delayed. But it's okay. Hope it's helpful to you.

Yes, Site Explorer is a great tool. I also use BaclinkWatch to monitor the number ofbacklinks that I have. Traffic Travis is another good option.

You can check your backlinks using Yahoo! siteexplorer or open site explorer.
Also, you can check your backlinks using Google webmaster tools... After logging into your account you can see complete information of your backlinks.

Yes, you can get more exact information of backlinks from this site. But only those accepted by yahoo, not Google.

I agree Keven brown that majestic seo is very useful tool for analysing backlinks. For just counting them - seoquake can show you number of backlinks.
Considering the second question, I'm using semrush for checking average cpc.

There would be some delay between links being indexed and then having them show up in YSE.

I think this whole keeping count of links exercise is probably not really productive. The ultimate metric is your ranking.

Another good alternative will be iWebTool's backlink checker. You can search it on Google if you want. Actually when I search "backlink checker tool", it was on the top 10 results.

It is much more detailed as compared to Google's Webmaster Tools

Yahoo Site Explorer is easy to use but it views way less backlinks than Google backlinks tool does. Basically Yahoo Site Explorer doesn't show you all the backlinks you really have. In Google you may have twice as much. Try different backlink checking tools.

Can't believe so many experienced posters are still telling people to use Yahoo.
