It is not so much quantity but quality that Google looks at, with the caveat that there must be enough content on the site to make it useful.

If the content you have on the site is poor quality or is auto-posted then try either improving that content or creating more unique good quality content and tell search engines not to index the poorer quality content.

Not just any old content, but original and unique content which is relevant to your subject matter will help both with Google and keep your audience interested.

I have found that when I stop adding content to my site then my rankings drop a few weeks later. No this doesn't mean add content daily. But I make sure AT LEAST once a week I am adding stuff to it.

Heres another small tip for you

With the Google Panda update, Google now also looks at your bounce rate, so include some videos in your posts if you can to keep users on your site longer.

If my site is inactive, but I have quality articles, it does not affect it too much as I still get traffic to the site. Of course when I add more quality content it gives me more authority, I have to make sure that I maintain quality in my content.

Your site ranking really depends on your site content, but not the quantity of this content, but the quality. May be a site has 30 posts with no real quality and value and the second one has just 10 articles which is unique and has real value for the users. Google will choose the second one to give it high ranking

Another vote for "yes," provided that you're talking about good content.

Quality is more important than quantity, but more good content is still better than less good content.

Let me add my voice to the chorus. Yes, adding content will boost your site's ratings but it has to be the kind of unique, keyword-rich kind of content that Google loves. Adding content that just fills up your pages will do you no good at all.

Adding relevant unquie content is very important for rankings, also get posts linking back to your site on some web sites within the same niche works great!

Cheers guys... and yes, it is quality content.

I've an amazon review site, there's 8 products reviewed.

I have a similar product... I was going to build a new site... but this site is getting so much traffic, over 400 visits a day, that I thought it a good idea to put these extra reviews on this site.

Nice to know this will improve my ranking.

Content is what people go to the web for.
Clearly it is key but to what extent it needs to be updated will always remain the question

I still don't believe that the Google bot can discern "quality" content from "crap" content unless they do a manual, human review which I think is rare. (Have seen evidence of this though, more recently). What they can discern is relevancy between pages to a certain keyword on a site and certain external factors such as relevant, quality backlinks. And, of course, they can discern dupe content.

Write good content - the more the merrier as long as it's relevant. Use the silo site structure as proposed by folk here like Yukon.

Get good backlinks - none of your spammy linkwheels, pyramids, forum profiles - just concentrate on a few decent quality backlinks from relevant sites. News sites, press release sites, higher end article and web 2.0s and high PR homepage backlinks all still work well. Use the longtail (Bigtime). Takes less links - adds to traffic. Funnel the long tail visitors inwards to your money page / email capture page. Internal SEO is paramount for bounce rate as is adding value with unique videos, content and/or other documents on your site. Try to create something that people will share across the social networking structure.

Yes, because you can have all your new pages link back to the page you what to rank higher.

Maybe they do maybe they don't... I have a 5 page site sitting #1 over WebMD. The thing I did with that site was link all my pages to the homepage and did a bunch of on-page seo.

There's only like 10 backlinks to it.

So you can try adding more pages then have them link back to the page you want to have a higher rank. That might do the trick.

It's not entirely necessary to rank, but it can help a little

Adding quality content on a bi-weekly basis helps me, but every time I add I also link to another page on my site.

Internal linking helps a lot. And my definition of a quality content is simply- unique; 500+ words with no spelling or grammer errors per page.

Trying to build a list? We can assist.
Don't try to find a shortcut if you don't even know how to get to your destination in the first place.

With the good content you can get more traffic on your site and get high page rank.
The Google not likes quantity of content it's like quality of content. with the Google panda update that time quality of content is more power full for web site page ranking.
Goggle also looks at your web site bounce rate.
