Elance, Odesk, Fweez and Scriptlance has some great writers for the price.

However, you're going to get what you pay for.

If you want the "lowest price out there" chances are you're not going to get the greatest writer.

But then again, I have gotten some great content for cheap so you just need to pick your writers right.

what i mean is the lowest price on good writers... i found on odesk some very good writers for 40$/hour, but that`s just too expensive for me.
i know that i get what i paid for, but i hire someone from filipine last month to write me a bunch of articles for 1$/article, and that wasn`t very greate.

so what i want in some good quality aticles, but not too expensive.
the articles are in the organ donation niche.

Lowest price.... I can't help but snigger when people ask for top quality but are only prepared to pay peanuts. Would you work for $3? I bet not. So why ask others to do so? You also have to remember that money reduces due to paypal fees and currency conversions. It would be cheaper for me to work for free and I won't do that!

Low price is extremely relative. I literally haven't changed my rates for what my writers produce in over 6 years, and business has never been better. Some say that a professionally written article of 550 words for $15 is a steal for the industry they're in, others are like "you charge what? I can get some guy in the Philippines to do 550 words for $3".

I learned long ago to not compete with those on elance for content production jobs. There will always be someone who will do it for pennies. Whoever you go with, though, at least get two samples to vet out the quality before you commit money. That'll save you some heart burn down the line

You have to do a bit of analysis first.

What level of articles are you looking for. Look at the type of site you want to create? You looking for professional writing? Lowest cost in professional writing, writing for adsense, sales copy, review copy, what type of writing?

How much is your budget? If you can only pay 10/article then you neednt bother looking at anything above that.

If you just looking for general articles I wouldn't pay anything more than $5/article. At $5 I usually dont have to proof read. but if you want to go cheaper then there are $3 articles but the quality varies and sometimes they can come back totally not what you expected.

So you need to do some trial and error by starting from the low end and move up based on your needs.

Go to fiverr and post your requirements you can definitely find some quality article writers.

What you need to do is actually figure out your budget and then go from there. You also have to determine what your goal is with the articles, that will help you determine the quality you need.

One solution that might work for you is to have the person in the Philippines write the base article for you and then head over to Fiverr to have someone edit them and clean them up for $5. There are a few decent editors over there that will edit 500-3000 words for $5.

Check out moeatwa on Fiverr. He's actually really good and done in an hour or two. Would be at least a level 3 on Textbroker, maybe level 4.

What is your definition of cheap? How many words per article? Price per hour is one thing but if you are only looking for a specific amount of articles every so often, that may help your search out a bit.

There are writers out there who charge per article and can deliver quality but you have to be willing to pay a fair price for their work.

Some of you so called quality writers have typos & poorly formatted web pages on your portfolios/sites.

My point is, stop acting like your writing is quality If you can't create a decent portfolio. Just because you set a higher price than another writer doesn't mean your any good at writing.

You're right. I've used some so-called quality writers who have produced terrible work. Just because you are a native English speaker and charge more doesn't mean that you can write well. I've found some excellent writers on Fiverr (and some horrendously bad ones). You just never know until you try them out. I bought over 40 writing gigs on Fiverr and only 3 of the writers were good. The others sent articles that were spun, poor quality and couldn't pass Copyscape. Some of the articles made no sense at all, they were gibberish! I guess the best thing to do is keep trying different writers until you find one that meets your needs. I don't understand why people who claim to be good writers put up such terrible samples/portfolios. It's crazy.

Errors in the samples would be off-putting but you really judge a writer on the basis of how they format their webpages? Just because they can write doesn't mean they know diddly about site design and it shouldn't matter to you how their site looks.

Yes, I do judge the quality of their work based on their web page & how the sample articles are formatted. I can make a web page look like a Fiverr gig for free (not that I would want that).

I'm not trying to be mean or anything, I just find it irritating when writers claim quality for no reason other than boosting their selling price.

It's like a realtor showing a new house with bright green paint, first impressions help make the sale, or in this case not make a sale.

If a writer needs help making a webpage look professional, they need to hire some help, or learn html. The portfolio pages do need to be professional looking & formatted with proper headings.

Don't take my comments as negative, I would hope that it's an insight of what some of us buyers are looking at when making a decision on who we'll hire for our writing projects.
