Recently I was contacted by Youtube inviting me for adsense for my youtube account where they display ads that start when the video starts and insert other display ads also. I have read many times before in order to qualify for it you must have a large view base and content. I have neither. I was suprised that I was offered it and accepted. My Youtube account I have I created in early 2006 and only post 3 videos on it of no importance, one being a music video by Van Halen. Have nearly no views for any of them [ just over 1,000 for one of them after all these years ] I have another Youtube account from 2006 also with a video with 40,000 views. Wasn't offered an adsense for that account. My question is how to monetize it? They have strict guidelines. Has anyone else been offered this for their account they barely use except to watch videos? Was wondering how common [ or uncommon ] an offer like this happens. Am looking for ideas on to what to do with it now to earn money. Thanks in advance. |

The key thing is you have to have full rights to all your content, so a video of van halen would not count. Usually when you get the message, you just accept it, and then when you look at your videos, there will be an option to click monetize and fill in the information to prove ownership.

Your videos have to be approved. You can get this approval when uploading it, or after you upload it. When uploading, you get a submit this video for revenue sharing or something like that. If you want to submit it after uploading, there is a revenue share button somewhere. I'm only guessing, but google wants more revenue. Go figure. They may be picking people out of the blue with potential. After all, the more ads show, the more people bid, the more revenue they make. It's a vicious cycle. Paul |
