Good post, Mike I can also suggest to use Webmaster Tools to get ideas what is wrong with your site right now( crawl errors, etc ) |

Don't overthink specific percentages. I aim for about 50% main keyword and then I completely randomize other anchor texts. In some cases I don't even use keywords for anchor text, and use "Click Here", or some other variations. After all, this is what would happen if you were linked too naturally. GoGetta

Hah... "ethical seo".. thats an oxymoron if ever I've heard one. My main money earning sites got hit and they are just starting to come back. One particular site is almost back to pre Oct 14th levels but the traffic is mainly low converting very long tail keywords as opposed to the 2-3 word keywords I was ranking for initially. I think out of the 3 things you mention Mike maybe only number 2 was an issue for me. I was a member of BMR way back but had to drop it due to financial constraints and I may have succumb to lower cost low-pr, spun article networks. Anyway something has to change now.. Also, does anyone believe outbound affiliate links make a huge difference to rankings? Thanks so much for your post anyway Mike. |

Under 50 is not bad for blog comments. I cannot tell you how it would work for Panda recovery because I only used incontext links (in post) and less than 20 for the recoveries I did for a few people.

| Hey Matt missed your post before. I don't use Webmaster tools as much anymore (on my sites plenty clients still use it). Kind of got paranoid about what I think GOogle uses some of the data for. Use seomoz mostly but its paid (with some pretty nice tools for SEO professionals) that I don't think most here would want to bother with.
