So happens a new company I'm working for, the company brand name is also the owner's name. The owner had a past client relationship with a mentally unstable person who has and continues to post the same false accusation against our company owner on multiple different websites across the web that have decent pagerank. I've know the owner for a long time prior to comming to work for him and can no for a fact he would not do what this insane person has accused him of doing. The problem we now have is that when someone types in my company owner's name the first page of results has listings from scam dot come, rip off report dot come, etc, etc. This guy basically copied and pasted his rant on multiple, multiple websites. Somehow he has a little knowledge of pagerank/seo I think or he's just darn lucky. We've started to agressively push more content out on the web with the owner's name in the title and in the content body in efforts to hopefully push this guy's rantings off the first page - dunno if that will work or not. I wondered if there were a way to communicate with Matt Cutts or someone directly, as this really is search engine spam/duplicate content and simply a man on a mission to ruin another man's business and character online. He's nothing more than a bully wannabe but unfortunately their seems to not be a hall monitor present on the search engines so he's just continuing his destructive behavior. The owner considered filing a lawsuit at one time but he is a Christian man and he felt spirtually convicted about this subject and felt compelled not to file suit despite the continued harrassment. Just wondering if you have any tips, advice, or know of anyone besides George Bush who's encountered a negative google-bomb attack like this and any resources for effectively combatting it? |

It sounds like you need to consult an attorney. Depending upon the circumstances, there may be legal charges that need to be filed. Also, tell your friend / boss that being a Christian does not equate to being a doormat. |

Yeah I would advise legal help at this point. I mean you could seo the crap out of a bunch of other sitres to hide the negatives but that will be a load of work and if this guy is that crazy you need a judge to slap his ass. |

A complaint to Google, with some legal standing, will do the trick. What this person is doing is slandering your companies name, with false information, and the last time I checked that is illegal.

| By that acronym I assume you mean: Digital Millennium Copyright Act? There isn't a copyright infringement case here. This is a case of malicious false accusations copy and pasted on multiple websites - but he "the jerk" is the original author of the duplicated content so don't think I'd get very far with the DCMA approach but I do appreciate your suggestion.

Why don't you politely email all the sites where this person has posted these false claims and explain the situation and ask them to kindly remove the malicious content.

Hi, As far as I'm concerned Slandering/Libel is a serious offense. You may file a complaint to authorities to put up some charges against him. It is applicable even though it's on digital format. Go for it. Try to call an Attorney to clear things up. cheers, John |

On this topic until now i have found only this google official post, Official Google Webmaster Central Blog: Managing your reputation through search results Sign up for facebook, twitter and google plus 1 etc. Create blog on wordpress.com and blogger.com. Write press releases and submit on prlog.org, i-newswire.com, 1888pressrelease.com, and pr.com. Create a youtube video. Seo above created pages and try to outrank offensive listings. If there are already positive pages on page 1 try to push them up via seo. |

If that doesn't work then I would attorney up and send the sites some 'less friendly' emails.

Best thing to do is create 20 sites or so on web 2.0 properties. Then backlink each of them with your anchor text until they all reach the top 20. Snakes abound on the Internet and this sort of tactic is economic terrorism any way you look at it.

Assuming that the "anti-spam" site was legitimate, I was going to email the site, but guess what? There was not any contact info whatsoever and the whois info was hidden. I concluded that the "anti-spam" site was in fact a spam site itself. Since other sites in my niche were also listed, I figure that the "anti-spam" site is really owned by a dishonest competitor of mine. The good thing was that he actually gave me a backlink and Google didn't care where the backlink came from.
