Yeap. Ready, Touch gloves, Fight. Does it really matter what the domain extension is? .COM, .NET or .ORG It feels like saving some pounds here from Go Daddy. Whatcha think? |

As far as SEO goes, I would definitely suggest a .com over a .org. If you are a non-profit organization, then register both and redirect the .com to the .org domain.

Also, Godaddy is normally running a special where if you purchase the .com, then you can get .net, .org, and .biz (I think) for about $15 total.

If both the .com and the .org are available - there is no question about it - go for the .com If however you are considering between one .com domain vs a different .org domain then it's not that simple... If the .org is an exact match domain with a significant amount of monthly searches - it might be a better option based on your plans for the website. Alex |

If you build a information base site (e.g. wikipedia) then I prefer for .org. But don't lose ownership of a .com domain if you can. |

I don't believe the domain extension makes a bit of difference in your ranking. That is determined by your on page and off page SEO, IMO. Personally I would never buy a .org as those were set up for things like non profits, so I don't think they are appropriate for a capitalistic venture. And although most of my sites have been non profit so far, I just don't think they are what I should get. I would rather have a .info than a .org. |

I don't think it really matters. As long as your on-page SEO and backlinks are solid it shouldn't matter if you're a .com, .net, .org, even .info Google has stated this multiple times, as have plenty of posters here. |

It doesn't matter what your extension is, you can rank any extension as long as your on-page seo and off-page are well done. But obviously, a dot com domain looks better than other domain extension. Regards. |

People remember .COMs easier. And also I'd rather click on rihannasongs.com instead of rihannasongs.org in the SERPs. |

Any of the two is good. It is not like it matters anyway!

| Do you think I wouldn't have registered .COM or .ORG if they weren't taken? And still http://www.howtocureibs.INFO sounds better than howtocureibs.ORG I'm looking for info, not an organization. This is more evident in the rihannasongs.org example. It's just funny thinking that there's an entire organization for Rihanna's songs. A board of people dedicated to all her songs. "What are we going to do today? I think we should examine "Only Girl In The World"... then we should all have a cup of coffee. After that we should worship her statue and then jerk off on it." |

For SEO, I've had varied results with .com, .net, .org and .info. In my experience, there's no real advantage in the eyes of a search engine. I think it really comes down to what you think looks better.
