Hey guys,
Not sure if it's google dance or my web site just got penalized or something, but for some reason my web site - Jobs in Medford Oregon, Online Classifieds | Rogue Valley Ads just dropped in rankings dramatically, I'm talking about 700+ position ...
I didn't create any backlinks for it for the past 2 month, basically I haven't touched it ... It was sitting in the top 5 for 2 main keywords, now I'm in 700+ ...

Many people are sick of Google at the moment even though it is meant to be "our friend". They are screwing the search results and turning them upside down.

That happened to me, went to 700+ and stayed there for almost 3 months. I thought it was a Google dance at first, but hovering around the 700 mark is a dodgey place to be, I've never been in this position and it be a dance. Weird, annoying and depressing - but life must go on.

I really hate google. The only reason why I'm pissed about it is because the page with my CPA offers (Free gift cards, get your free gift cards today from Rogue Valley Ads) went from 3rd to 700+ ... that's the only thing that I care about lol

They owe you nothing, especially an explanation.

They don't exist for you. You are trying to exist
because of them. That's a bad way to look at it.

Google just had record profits. So, it's quite comical

If you choose to live by google, you can die by google.

If you can't take that as an option, then stop living

That's why most of my pages get indexed within a day on that site? It's currently PR4 with over 1000+ indexed pages, yet google hates me?
I never said that google owes me anything, but don't you think jumping from top 5 to 683 position is kind of too drastic? I understand going from top 5 to like a 2nd page or something, but not to 683 position ...

Duplicated content? It's basically has 10 same ads as the other classifieds web sites.
No I did not lose my ranking after Panda update. I lost them most likely yesterday since when I checked my site it was still fine 2 days ago.
As far as long urls, it creates url from the ad title, so if you put I want to sell this and that your url will be mysite.com/I-want-to-sell-this-and-that

I often find your posts overly negative but I agree with you on this.

Google make their money by providing quality search results to their end users. If they suspect you're gaming them to achieve a higher ranking than what your page actually deserves then they'll penalize you for it.

The most likely reason for your penalty (if it is one) is that you stopped building links suddenly and they sussed you out.

I've had the same thing happen to me. A single page will drop completely off the rankings for about 3 months and then suddenly shoot straight back to where it was before.

Sorry....anyone who starts a thread with "WTF GOOGLE!" is obviously
thinking that google is obliged to do something. What? Keep
them top rated? For what reason? Because they think so? Because
that's the way it's always been?

Yukon, you repeat I said right after Pandamonium I. People will no
longer claim sandbox, penalty, etc., now they got panda!

Unfortunately, many times I do answer a legit question with a
great answer. But those fly under the radar. And I'm not on the WF
as much as before. The fireballs are more attractive...so it's
not that my posts are inherently negative. The goal is to get
people to succeed, me included. And to turn people away from
the google is everything mentality. It's not. It's a large, public
company that makes boatloads of money and owes something to
it's searchers, employees, paid customers, and shareholders.

If that means they don't like your site anymore, so be it. Move
on. Adjust. Tweak. Be determined to succeed without google.

99% of the complainers on the WF just have to look internally,
as has been pointed out in this thread even. As well as many
other things. Like sig links.

This whole thread is about spam IMO. Although you may not have seen issues when Panda came out it does not mean that a random Google bot recently scanned your site and found issues. From what I am reading in the thread and seeing on your site yes it looks like spam and I can agree with anyone who has said that as the answer to your issue.

I do not even need to suggest anything beyond support for the previously posted answers. Try and provide a more quality search result.

This is exactly the type of site Google doesn't need nor want in its SERPs. Not only that, but your links are spam and they most likely just lost their value.

My advice is to start looking into other free methods of obtaining targeted traffic, Google traffic is great but if you lose your high ranking and have no back up plan your screwed.

In the meantime make tweaks to your fallen website and build high PR links to it and see if that helps.

How is my web site spam, I don't get it? Look at the ads, 99% of them are legit. I do get spam ads 1-2 times a day, but they usually deleted within first 15-20 minutes. 2 keywords that it was ranking for were "rogue valley" and "rogue valley jobs"
So you saying google marks all the classifieds sites as spam? Who came up with that myth? I said I'm not worried about since I don't receive a lot of traffic from organic search anyways (only 10-15 uniques / day), all my traffic comes from local advertising. Again I also know that google DON'T OWE ME ANYTHING.

I'm not saying your site is spam but what I am saying is that Google's own documentation identifies sites with tons of hyphens in the URLs as spam. The hyphens are definitely a signal and could be hurting you.

If you did not create backlink how Google will push you up. Try to create backlink to your site, also use Facebook, Twitter to get traffic. And the content at your site, I see it do not have any value, people will leave this after few second. I think this is a reason your website can not go up.
