Are Alexa Demographics Worth Anything?

They are telling me that me "visitors" to my most visited site are mostly females over 35 years old browsing from home, but I know that is way off.

The visitors are mainly students, since traffic plummets every weekend, school holiday, and duting summer and x-mas vacation.

Does anyone feel Alexa demographics are worth anything?

Is there any other way to assess your visitor demographics?

I use Alexa for a "general" snapshot of how competition is performing. I look at the 'face-value' trends in the graph, rather than any real raw data it offers.

I have just come to accept that it's pretty much way off because of how highly it relies on installation of the Alexa toolbar for results.

Well it's a great way to know your audience better. Now since you have that info., now you know the reason why your traffic plummets. Start aligning your site towards their needs or even expand to a different age group.
