Default Separate Domains For Website And Blog?

I’m in the planning phase of building a personal branding website to promote yours truly.
I’m also building a blog that will compliment and promote the branding site.

I’m strongly considering using ErnieMitchell.com for the site and ErnieMitchell.info for the blog. I’m also considering using ErnieMitchell.tv via a redirect to the site for my youtube channel.

Is this relatively sound logic or am I stepping on a land mine by using two separate domains for the site and the blog?

There is also an issue of themes (taglines) for the site and blog. What’s to say I shouldn’t use the same tagline for the site AND blog. I’ve come up with a great, keyword rich tagline for the site but so far everything I’ve managed to come up with for the blog is kind of lame.

I would appreciate and insight I might receive concerning how to lay the cornerstones for this project.

Thanks,

Ernie Mitchell

I would not advocate separate domains theory at all. Will it do yourself any Harm? It will not because, you are beginning from the scratch. But Having a website, blog and videos in one domain will have huge effect in your ranking. Google love regular updates, ( your blog is where you can update regularly) Google loves rich media content ( your videos). So having some in one domain makes sense. Would like to hear the opinion from my fellow SEOs. It always helps to learn and add things to our database.

Thank you for your comments.

What you're saying makes sense.

Do you feel using the ErnieMitchell.tv domain on a redirect basis from youtube to the ErnieMitchell.com (my main website) is also detrimental?

If not --- if redirects are not dettimental --- perhaps I should scrap the concept of two seperate domains (ErnieMitchell.com for the site and ErnieMitchell.info for the blog) and use the ErnieMitchell.info domain to access the blog pages within the ErnieMitchell.com website via redirect.

I guess the issue is whether there is anything to be lost by using redirects in this fashion.

Given that my options are wide open at this juncture I want to make sure the cornerstones are properly positioned

Thanks in advance,

Ernie Mitchell
