Lightbulb Too Much Related Posts?

Hi guys,

Recently I started interlinking one of my sites using related posts at the end of the articles. So far so good, but today after checking one of the keywords I noticed that it has gone form position 4 to 9.

I have linked to this particular page 4 times. Thing is I am using the same keyword say " big bad wolf " as an anchor. Can this interlinking/using the same keyword have a negative effect on the SERP?

Thanks
Crowly

P.S I just removed 2 of the related posts links..

4 times is not going to hurt you. You need to look at what else you may have been doing at the same time. One jump in your site does not mean that you are dropping in the rankings. This could be the all fun Google dance, and you will see in a while that your site will actually go above 4 when it finally settles down.

You are mixing up cause and effect and making a pretty grand
assumption.

What you are doing is quite common, quite good, and what big
sites, like oh say wikipedia, do it.

How many sites do you see that have the same menu column on
each and every page? It's the only way I ever code sites.

Don't you also realize that your posts are interlinked by tags,
previous posts, categories, etc. anyway?

Why the panic from 4 to 9? Can't google get some fresh
blood in there without anyone going out on a ledge?

Don't you hope that a new article or post will rank on the
first page? Does that mean the site you replaced was given
a penalty?

Paul

i don't think 4 times linking a website will hurt you in serp. May be its a google dance or something else. Check your google webmaster accounts for more details

Thanks guys, I am doing a little bit of backlinking at the same time. I am getting paranoid..

@paul no, I am not expecting the other sites that I outrank to have been penalized, just my site being better optimized
