Default Do web 2.0 sites still work for SEO

Hi,

Do web 2.0 sites like Squidoo and HubPages still work for SEO?

For example, if I write an article on Squidoo and link it to my original blog article, will that help my rankings or did the panda update make web 2.0 sites obsolete?

Thanks

web 2.0 sites still work but you need to utilize many of them to see results. Post original article to each web 2.0 site with a link back to your site.

Web 2.0 sites still work and it is very easy to achieve a good ranking by using them especially if you don't have a very competitive keyword. Come up with original articles for each property, then create links around the properties to give them some link juice.

Article directories like hubpages faced major blows during the Panda update. But Hubpages and Squiddo are still still effective not only for back links but for direct traffic as well.

It works pretty well with unique content, but have you gave a thought on how much time you need to do it properly? Should that time be invested in YOUR own sites- instead of something you don't own?

Just food for thought.

web 2.0 links still help a great deal, but it is good to also create links around them from social bookmarks, forum posts, blog comments, etc to give them some link juice and power too.

They really work and a general rule to observe in cases in which you are able to set up a new profile online is paying attention to the stats of websites, if the pages which contain your links are in a way to get crawled and indexed by Google and other search engines, so the links will get counted and after a while they will appear on your Webmaster Tools panel also. A lot of websites are found with packs of links coming from Web 2.0 sources and doing fine most of the time.

Blogs and profiles, even the ones which are powered based on free hosting accounts and services can still contain fresh, original contents and from within contexts, some links can point at your website. This is a strategy already used by thousands of websites. Of course one point to mention in here is that even those spots need optimization and promotion, for instance they too need links, and all of such tasks are going to take you a long time to get done properly.

Can i post an article i have written on my site, wait for it to get indexed, and then post it to a web 2.0 site, or must the content which i post on the web 2.0 site be completely original?

I ask because i have set up an account on 10 web 2.0 sites such as squiddo, but now im wondering if it is really worth writing 10 articles for each site, when i could just post these 10 articles on my own site?

What to do?!

I've got an outsourcer guy setting up the 2.0 accounts and I simply need to write the content and sent it to him, and he can do the rest of the work. This makes it time effective and enables me to conentrate on the most important thing - good content.

In my opinion definitely it will work. Squidoo gives a huge platform for search engine optimization reason. It has the skill to make lens that will add power to your most important website as well as help you choose lots of traffic particularly after your lens becomes famous. RSS feed on Squidoo page can be used to pull RSS feed from any social bookmarking website you use such as Delicious.

Web 2.0 sites works for SEO and that is the safest backlinks you can get because it is contextual links. if you can have unique content It works much better because it get indexed faster. If you can add images to it (if you are not using unique content) then stick rate increases.

Hope this helps

I repeat ... diversify backlink sources, anchor text
Relevant, Contextual link pyramid is the solution for current problem [230+ people can't get wrong]

If I am not mistaken, squidoo doesn't really allow duplicate content, but I am not sure.

It is worth the effort to use web 2.0 sites, but you have to be consistent and also try to build a few backlinks to those posts to get them to work even better for your own backlinks.

Web 2.0 provide a great buffer between your site and any low quality blasts you might have. This is useful, but remember that any link juice that you send to the property gets diluted a lot before it gets to your site.

On the other hand, it's far less troublesome when a squidoo page get's deindexed.
