Use webmaster tools, log in and set settings to target desired country. Also, using the relevant country's tld will help. Ex. For australia, register domain with.com.au |

Want to kick it up a notch further? Get hosting in whatever country you are trying to rank for. Get backlinks from TLDs from country as well. Other than that, everything is normal. |

Yeah, hosting really helps here. .com.au for Autralia .co.uk for the UK etc. Backlinks from domains from the targeted country help a lot, as does submitting your site to Google maps if you have a physical business address. Other things like going targeting suburb-specific keywords help as well. |

Submit your website in regional directories and bookmarking websites. Collect maximum links from from regional extension for which you would like rank high, for example collect back links from .au, .uk, .in etc. The above things will help you to achieve high position in search engine for different regions.

Tip 1 – Use Webmaster Tools Geographic Targeting. Tip 2 – Choose a country specific domain name. Tip 3 – Host your website in the country you are targeting. Tip 4 – Develop inbound links to your site from websites within the country you are targeting. Tip 5 – Use local keyword phrases within the body of your website content. Tip 6 – Use a local business address within the footer of your site. Tip 7 – Set up a Google Places account. The one biggie that I have not seen anyone mention is to link out to a major authority in that country. I.E. Link to CNN here or believe it or not the Google +1 info/how to page (G likes their +1's). This tactic helps. ![]() Patrick |

Ok, I'm going to disagree with some of the posts here...but only from my experience with my own sites .Personally, I don't think that where you host your site really plays a very big part in the whole scheme of things. Yes, I'm sure Google takes it into consideration at some point but I believe there are plenty of other factors that are far more important. I have numerous Australian (.com.au) sites, none of which I've had any problems getting ranked in the top #10 and even position #1 on Google.com.au for some quite competitive keywords... ...& every single one of them is hosted on a server in the US.
