Site Ranking

Hello All -
I am a Realtor in NJ and I have a question in regards to ranking. My site camdencountynjhomesforsale(.)com is relatively new, however i feel my ranking should be better than they are.

I have a plugin i use for my listings that other companies use, realtor.com, sawbuck.com etc, however these sites continually rank my own listings much higher than my own site, thing is, i can actually go on my page and work on the keywords and descriptions where they cannot. Still, my listings do not make the first page of google, even with the correct amount of keywords (i use seopressor to make sure i am not overloading.)

Question is, do i need to give it more time or am i doing something wrong? I ping the site, i submit the sitemap automatically with a plugin... any suggestions on getting this to rank better??

Hi Dave,

You need more links.

Don't get over consumed with the on-page stuff.

Once you've given it your initial attention - get links.

You need to build backlinks to your website. You can do this by article marketing, forum profile backlinking and posting, blog commenting, and some other stuff. You can learn how to do this just by reading some of the important threads in WF. You can learn these things for free.

Dave, what keywords are you trying to rank for?

I just checked your site using Market Samurai - I see no backlinks at all.

Thank you - if it was easy, i'd be doing it... i spend enough time trying to learn... -Backlinks - i post on Active Rain all the time and add links to my site on the posts.. is that what you mean by backlinks? Thank you everyone...im very new to this...

So you did onsite SEO and now its time to get into offsite SEO.You need to build a good number of backlinks depending on competition for your chosen keywords.

You are all very helpful THANK YOU. Backlinks mean posting on other well ranked sites, like Active Rain and add links on those posts to my site correct? I do that however, maybe i need to do that more often? Also, is it true that i should link deep into my site?

ps, can anyone point me to a post that has explanations/help for what i need...i would like to read deeper into this.. maybe even a book?

You have 2 choices.

1. Outsource the work
2. Learn it yourself

Being a real estate agent, I'm sure you're probably busy enough servicing your clients and running your business. Having said that, I would strongly recommend that you outsource this or hire an SEO firm.

If you think you're going to learn SEO and rank this site in a matter of days, you're going to be sadly mistaken.

I'm trying to learn it myself. I cant outsource right now. I don't expect to learn page rank asap, i am willing to work and learn, i just need direction.

I would also like to recommend that you start a blog, if you do not have one. Talk about local events, local customs, the houses you are representing, anything locally.

Also, if you have not claimed your Google places page (map listing) do that NOW and add pictures, videos, and keyword optimized text. Link it to your site.

Backlinks will get you to the first page. Vary the anchor text and get the links from a few different sources eg articles, press releases etc.

Dave, Im sure you could Google a few reviews, but honestly, I dont usually recommend many products, thats one of few that I do.

I dont promote BS. Its a great course, worth every cent.
