Howdy folks. I am sort of a newb here. I registered quite a while ago lurked for a while then got sidetracked and have not been back till now. This is my first post so be gentle. I apoligize if I ask anything that has already been covered a millions times but I did asome searches and tried to get that info. Like many I am hit by the economy laid off and have decided it is time to take matters into my own hands completely once and for all. And yes I read the Desperate thread. ![]() I have been reading some of the stickys etc. and got some good info. Looks like I got my site optimization half right by shear luck. I used key words in the domain name and first few lines of content. However I don't think they are real popular search terms even though they are catchy. How do you check if they are popular search terms? I am still not getting enough traffic. The site grosses anywhere from 100 to 400 a month most months but has some long gaps sometimes too. It is a specific product that was not available much a few years ago but is all over the place now so consequently business has slowed down some but been fairly consistent even after slowing. it sold it self in the beginning by word of mouth so i did not really do much to help it grow like I should of. Even though the market is more saturated now I still think there is room for everyone. However I need to work at it now and I need to learn the ends and outs of getting traffic to the site to expand sales. Like most I am pretty broke. I have read some of the stuff about unstoppable affiliate but can't afford it at the moment, and wonder of the optimization techniques would be helpful even though my site is not really an affiliate site? I do have some books from Amazon that are related that I offer as an affiliate but that is it. Can somone recommend a free course that would get me going for now? I am interested in perhaps creating some affiliate sites also but I thought since I have something that is already making a little money I should first try and expand it. I also am working on another site that is semi related but could have the potential to expand into other products. And my customer base from tjhe first site are all potential customers for the new site Anyway my income is about to shrink real soon so need to do something quick. gee I bet you all never heard that before... And I am looking for a job to tide me over till I can get this going. However that is not easy these days.I read that offering services has potential to make money fast. I have a computer tech background but really no experience in any of the services I have read about here so is there one that is easily learned in a short time that I could practice on my sites and then when adept perhaps offer to others that you would recommend? Or how about being an affiliate of someone else who offers some good services? Is that good money making potential? Perhaps throw up some affiliates sites for that? I know there is no magic bullet I am just looking to cut the learning curve as short as Possible but still have quality and quantity. Anyway nice to meet you all sorry for any rambling and thanks for any advice in advance. |

Thanks for your response. I hear ya on the courses most I have seen are a lot a fluff and little suable knowledge. That is why I was asking for free ones as the tend to have less fluff unless they are just a promotion to buy a course. I am just looking for some tips. My site is a wordpress site as I don't want to be a web designer I want to make some money. I read somewhere in here their are only a couple of word press themes and or modules you should use for this or are best for this but did not say what they are. Anyone know what they are? On the Throwing up some sites with back links. Are you saying using free sites or registering domain names for the sites? If free sites any recommendations? Quote:
I know that is good advice and I am working on it I have a rough site map laid out and a domain name reserved, but have been looking for some tips on optimizing it from the get go. I am reading the SEO faq above but some of it I am not sure I understand. Maybe I'll formulate some specific questions once I get through it. Thanks again. | ||

I started out a few months ago too not knowing anything about IM. I first learned how to rank and build niche/affiliate sites from Pat Flynn's blog Passive Income: The Smart Passive Income Blog Make sure to read his Niche Site Challenge series. After that, I learned a LOT on this forum so stick around. |
