Default Mass pinging...will it come back to haunt me?

I submitted sitemaps to google for a site with 1000+ pages a week ago and then 3 days ago when I updated all the pages, but they've only indexed 17 of them. Not sure if it is because there are no direct links to most of the pages on my site, since users reach most pages through interactive jquery tools.

I decided to start a mass ping campaign, using several sites to create backlinks and to ping the 1000+ pages on my site. Google appears to be following these, having over 2500 hits from googlebot today.

Do you think this is going to come back to haunt me?

I have the redirect 301 for non-www to change to www. Unless you are seeing something I'm not.

You can try this: formulaconversion The links on that page, I believe google has indexed, but if you enter a search, google doesn't see the links in them, so maybe they don't want to index them?

Do I really need to include 1000+ links on my site somewhere and am I going to get penalized by google for using the mass ping tools? FYI, googlebot has hit 4200+ pages on my site today so far.

Google always take some time to index pages.Never expect that they will index all of your site pages instantly or within few days.

Mass pinging shouldn't hurt you. However, I wouldn't count on pinging alone to increase the indexing rate of your site, either.

I'm not, but with over 1000 different pages, it is hard to bookmark/backlink them all. I pulled the list down and put them all in the google adwords tool and save the results in a spreadsheet. I have focused on some on each end, both very popular and not so much, as long as the competition was low.

Ugh, SEO is more work than actually creating the site!
