Post 0% Adsense CTR?

My old blog, webprogramming360.com receives around 60 pageviews per day, but even with the current Wordpress adsense theme I had around 400 page views in a week with a 0% click through ratio.

How can I improve this rate, and what have I done wrong? Also any advice on boosting my traffic?

What are the best tactics to improve my ctr, and how is my Wordpress theme?

Your theme is not doing anything for you. It is very outdated and visually difficult one the eyes. I would try something drastic and also work on getting more page views via backlinks and interaction in social media and web 2.0 for starters. Its hard to navigate and It might be that your content is lacking in the SEO department. If I were you I would change my theme to something else that claims to ad some SEO value. You need to get more traffic. The low click thru rate is b/c the traffic is too low.

This blog is for webmasters and i guess most webmasters don't click on adsense ads. Try some other monetizing method. Web hosting affiliate banners may work for you.

Hmm...

I still can't see why more traffic will improve my CTR...

I think web host affiliate links maybe a smart idea.

Still any recommendations on Wordpress themes?

Well i think that no one is clicking on your ads maybe because:
You have them in a worng place
they are not atractive
you dont have enought visitors
no one is looking at them because they are in places unfindable

It can be one or two of those reasons
hope this helped

I have adds specifically on the pages, but not on the home page. My home page gets like no views every month...

Should I add ads to the sidebar?

What do you think of my design?

Your adsense ads are hard to see. No contrast. The background color I think weak. Perhaps a bit more ads will help too. You can put more than one adsense ads on a page. I have a site that has between 10 to 20 visitors per day and makes me around 10 dollars per month. I know it's not much money but not much traffic either. I attribute the clicks to the colors I have used, the contrast of the ads, the background color and number of ads. I am not sure if I am allowed to have a link here but if yes you can check it out. Although it's in hungarian you can see what I am talking about here. csomag kuldes

I went on your site and didn't see any ads at all? Where were they hiding? lol..

That may be the reason why your having a low CTR. Once you put some ads where people can see them, that should raise your CTR.

Hi,

I'm not seeing any ads on your site. Also, your template looks dull to me. Try to look for more "catchy" themes out there. There's a lot of them over the net for free.

In my opinion, you should at least put some ads in your home page. (it works for my site anyway.)

Second, try to do some Link-building to increase its traffic (SEO) It's easier to do SEO because it's old as you've said.

Another thing to consider is to create micro-niches so that it will gain more traffic. Also, put plugins that you think might be best for your blog.

Hope this helps

Cheers,

John

Try truncating the posts and adding a read more option. And you really could benefit from images. Name the images with keywords and add captions if you like. It helps.

Do more research on google.

1) Change the theme asap.
2) Switch to a theme with a bigger font size, your side bar currently cannot be more boring.
3) Recent good adsense theme = ctr theme, also check out the highly customizable thesis theme if you can afford it.
4) Get a good logo made, or make one yourself.
5) Put some images in the sidebar, someone suggested hosting ads, would look nice.
6) Search for plugins that inject adsense ads in your post content, slightly sly, but gets the job (click) done!
7) All in all, spice up your site, the old site is looking like that, old!

Just looked at your site. I didn't even notice that there was an adsense ad at first.
I'm guessing that a fairly large percentage of visitors will not see that 1 adsense ad you have at the top right corner of your page.

I have had a lot of experience with Adsense and using different templates to tweak the CTR and the first thing I will say is the template you are using is no good, for many reasons.

The one Adsense add I see is in a bad location and is easily overlooked. You need to experiment with locations, sizes and colors to see which works best for you and this particular blog.

The wide range of topics on your blog is going to make it hard to get extremely target ads displayed which makes it less likely that anyone is going to click on an ad.

I also think that the subject matter of your blog is going to make it less likely that you will have the type of visitors who are going to click on an ad.

I think you would be better off finding other ways to monetize this blog.

As first, your site doesn't look very good.
If you must, buy one wordpress web 2.0 theme with decent&clean look.

Lets go further into some more analysis: You have set only title on your home page, you don't have any meta keywords or description there.
And you have "web programming 360" in your home page title. According to GKT, number of peoples that search this keyword string in google is 0.
So, no wonder you don't have any visits on your home page.

Hi.. How is it? Have you adjust your site setting according to all the suggestions. Choose one phrase that receive the most visitors as shown by your analytical. Monetize that page fully. I believe you can start from that page.

I'll show you how to make money online.

Hi, Your theme is fine...just change the ad block to a text 336x280 use bright blue as the link color so that it stands out. That should do the trick.
