Default Viral with adsense!

Hey guys!

My new site launched yesterday, 20 forum threads later I got 11k views and £10 adsense.

May not seem like a lot, but when I've worked with AdSense before I never reached 11k views in total!

I don't want to give my link away, but is there any way to improve the CTR?

It's currently under 0.20% and I'd like to raise it to around 2%/3%.

Currently on 7k views today already, adsense timer clicked over at 8am GMT so 4 hours ago. Not bad eh?!

Hello,

Are you testing different ad colors? Testing different sizes? And is your ad above the fold? These are all very important to get a good CTR. Testing is the most important to determine what ad format and ad colors actually work best.

2 468x60 ads above the fold, surrounding the main focus area.

There's a text box with text they have to look at, and the banners sound that. So they're definitely seen.

Both are image ads, I never liked text ads but are they worth it?

I find that images ads on other sites catch my attention more, text area look a little boring.

Hey Jamie, nice going that's a lot of traffic.

To increase your adsense ctr you're going to
need to split test your ad placement to see
what gets the best ctr. You could also split
test different text colours too. It's all about
the testing!

With all that traffic you may want to try
placing some targeted banner ads on your
forum instead of adsense too see if you can
make more money with an affiliate program.

Or how about adding an opt in form and
building a list!

So yeah, nice 1 Jamie!

My target audience is more interested in making money than spending it, so affiliate marketing isn't worth it.

I tried to place a skyscraper which would catch eye level attention, but due to div tags and failing CSS, the ad was unclickable.

As I said before, ads are around the main focus of the site (the whole reason it's there really!) and are both images.

What's your opinion on text ads over image ads?

Both serve a purpose but I find the payout is more
with text ads.

I wouldn't let a little technical glitch stop you from
testing banner ads though. There must be a way to
fix it. Are you using vbulletin or what?

And I wouldn't assume that your visitors aren't willing
to spend money just because they're interested in
making money. It's because of the fact that they're
interested in making money that they may be willing
to pay for information on how they can start making
money or make more money.

No it's an original script in PHP, designed to go viral

I'll give text ads an experiment after today, want to see the kind of traffic I'm looking at

Affiliate marketing might work. Clickbank seems to be a good call, I'll give that a go in a few days

You have to actually get more targeted visitors. Pumping up
page views for page view's sake is not even treading water.

Placement along with colors, will have little impact if the
traffic and ads are not targeted.

Why not override the CSS, div, etc. and manually place the ads
exactly where you want them?

And forget about boatloads of just traffic. Get targeted traffc
and use the ad filter.

You're not getting a bad CPC, just uninterested traffic.

Paul
