Default Tumblr Blog Network

Is it possible? We see blog network services coming up all the time (BMR, Matt La, etc) - which all use their own domains. Obviously, this is the best practice to do this, but what about for the people with limited money.

  • No Hosting Fees
  • No Domain Fees
  • No SEO Work (I say this lightly for all the trollers out there)
  • Don't have to worry about same IP / Geographic Diversity (as all tumblr subdomains are hosted on one server that Google accepts)

What's wrong with this picture? Maybe there's something I am not seeing here

It's possible, however there are some risk associated with it.

1. You do not control that network
2. All good subdomains already taken, new one will have PR0

but for backlinks indexing that could be a good options as long as you can create new accounts automatically faster than they close.

I was thinking more article network, rather than just for indexing. Matt LaClear bases his entire SEO business off of this for the article distribution.

As for the accounts, why do you suppose they will get deleted? I won't be breaking any rules.

Among the various Web 2.0 sites, Tumblr is one of the more heavily moderated ones. They are not real big fans of blatant marketing and will quickly delete accounts that are posting a lot of articles with links in them.

One of the big ranking factors search engines are believed to take into account is IP diversity. So while Google may not have a problem with the IP address that Tumblr, all your backlinks are going to be coming from that same IP.

I'd be careful who you are trying to model your business after.

Would creating a new blog for every article be better than updating the same blogs? Signing up via proxies will keep me anonymous - however then every blog would be 'fresh' and would have no age and never increase much in ranking (to pass more juice).

IMO something like tumblr is just to risky.

I would hate to be 1 year into building links on that network, & someone pull the plug in a single day on all backlinks.

You could do that or a new blog for every niche, maybe not every article.

But again, this is why this plan may not be the best idea.

Yeah, that's one worry that I have is a prolonged use of this and it getting taken down. I suppose this risk would be involved for every Web 2.0, which is why hosting on your own domains is the most used way. For some quick backlinks, it still might be a suitable option though.

If you are really set on using Web 2.0's in a significant way, look into LinkWheel Bandit.

Can do it all on autopilot and on a pretty massive scale. Plus it self heals, meaning if a site gets taken down, it automatically builds a new one in its place.

I'd also be very careful whom you take advice from. The world is still flat according to some practitioners.

What would be YOUR advice for such a network? Highly unrecommended?

I have tried LinkWheel Bandit, unfortunately, the experience is not good. There are still limited number of Web 2.0 sites, plus, the owner does not respond to any question raised. Not sure whether this happened to you, but this happened to me.

But indeed LinkWheel Bandit's concept is good, but just it will take time for the owner to sort this out. Until then, I will go in again.

I concur with MikeFriedman.

Am most interested in LinkWheel Bandit for Web 2.0's in a managed yet significant way.
Just haven't heard from too many people using it.

Gotta give Swords a lot of credit, though, for thinking outside of the box.
