Default I'm A Little Lost On Adwords

I keep hearing about this quality score google has when it comes to your adwords account. I hear it effects on how much they charge you per click. Can someone explain to me what this quality score has to do with your account.

As far as my knowledge goes, your Adword quality score does not affect the bid price. It does however have an impact on the ad placement. The lower the quality score the lower you are placed.

The quality score is calculated on many factors and Google's Adword help section has a detailed explanation on "What is 'Quality Score' and how is it calculated?" (Sorry but I am not allowed to post links).

Now the motive that Google may have behind it is revenue. Suppose you bid $5 for a particular keyword. You are at the top but don't attract any clicks. Another person bids $1 but get more clicks. In essence Google is earning more from the other person than you. So it will slowly change the add placement to get that ad to the top. More money you see.

Hope it helps.

Hi cliffmaster,

A few years ago folks that were advertising in the AdWords program were often placing ad for keywords that weren't relevant to the Landing page for the ad. Searchers were losing confidence and trust in the reliability of most ads on Google's search engine.

So in 2006, to combat this slide in ad quality, Google introduced Quality Scores to the AdWords program. Quality Score rewards advertisers by allowing them to bid less for the ad position when their relevance and other quality factors are high, and requires them to bid much more when their Quality Score is poor.

While this caused their ad revenue to drop temporarily, as many advertisers abandoned the program, the advertisers that remained improved their relevance and restored trust and confidence in the Sponsored Results in the Google Search Engine.

This led to a revitalized market for advertisers and the AdWords program rebounded stronger than before.

If you are participating in the AdWords program it is paramount to address Quality Scores or you will pay a dear price.

google has a complicated and changing algorythum with many factors.
the longer you have an account open you gain a better QS quality score
if you delete ads your score goes down instead create an variation of your new ad and delete your old ads 2 weeks later. poor keywords hurt your score. poor landing pages hurt your score meaning thin page not laden with rich content. No ones knows all the tricks but keep on learning and do not give up!
