I don't find backlinkwatch to be good either. For many sites it either shows no backlinks or very few. Not sure why its getting so much praise here.

I am kind of new here but what gives, we were all n00bs once. It seems to me this is between BackLinkWatch and Spyglass. My question is that Spyglass is paid, and I don't mind, but does it have the competition baclinks checker? I am quite interested on that one for obvious reasons.

MajesticSEO seems to do the job quite good and quite fast. Have a site which is about a month old and Majestic is the only tool already seeing backlinks on the domain..

Hey everyone. I’m still new at this so hopefully I’m not missing anything completely obvious, but I’m trying to gauge the number of backlinks certain sites have and in researching the forum and this thread, there a lot of options and a lot of opinions.

The problem/question I have is that I’m getting vastly different results from all of them and I have no idea which is correct or which I should be targeting.

(for SEOQuake, I’m looking at both the SEMRush numbers, as well as the Google Links that must be manually turned on).

The difference is pretty extreme – sometimes talking in the thousands of BL vs 0.

Here’s an example. I did a google search for “Internet Marketing” and randomly chose “Internetmarketing.com”, the second result for me.

That is obviously a HUGE discrepancy. I have no idea which one is accurate and which are the numbers I should be targeting when I’m doing my research. Am I interpreting the numbers wrong? Am I looking at the wrong numbers?

I strongly recommend Majestic SEO for checking backlinks. It gives you details on Fresh Indexes and Historic ones, Top Pages and the sites that have are linking to yours with the anchor texts used. Also, it has complete details on AC ranks for measuring the backlink page's importance.

I use Market Samurai, they have a partnership with Majestic Seo but they pay the bill. You get a full back links count and anchor text analysis.
