old adsense site how to re-start with wordpress?

I have an old adsense site which over time gained some PR. Now I would like to re-start posting on it, but I can't be bothered with old HTML and prefer to use wordpress.

How can I "convert" that old HTML design to wordpress without losing any of the site structure?

Or if not possible, is there any other way you could advice other than using the Dreamweaver again?

If it's only the posts, you can copy paste. Meta desc etc are pretty easy to be integrated into wordpress.

Just do it manually. Hope it's not too much content we are talking about.

my biggest concern is how to preserve the site structure
worst case i can copy paste content - but how to keep the structure so i dont loose backlinks and PR?

I would recommend you hire someone to do this for you if this is not your area of expertise.

Thanks Zeb, the trouble is I do not trust anyone, especially some random person from an online outsourcing platform...

If you know the directions please tell me I am ready to sit and read articles and learn - can't risk some stranger accidentally destroying all my work...

I don't know of any articles to help you out here. Try looking in the programming section.

Why can't you trust professionals to do their job? You should trust them. Interview the candidates first. Don't just go and hire some random stranger.

You are smart to be concerned about maintaining the site structure. You don't want to lose the established benefits that you have already earned. Fortunately the Wordpress CMS platform is pretty flexible. You should easily be able to maintain you current site structure within the Wordpress platform.

Hi dburk, I think you meant me, not Zeb. I think I can do what you described with some reading, but does this mean I need to create the wordpress version of the site in another folder and then how do I switch the active/live folder with the wordpress which I would create in another folder?

Hi Kikos,

That depends, to a certain extent, on your hosting platform. I would recommend that you setup a second site, if only temporarily, to get all of your configuration done. Then backup everything and restore it onto your current location. Do a backup of your old site so that you can reference it if you discover you missed anything after the transfer.

If you are switching hosts then you can just setup the new website on the new host account and once everything is configured to your satisfaction, update the DNS record to point at the new website hosting address.

I would create the entire WP theme offline with WAMPserver.

You can install Wordpress + Wampserver on your offline PC, that's the way I do it anyways.

Once the Wordpress theme is 100%, upload to your paid host online.

You defiantly don't want to mess up yout existing site structure on an old site that is doing good in the SERPs.

I had a good link to install Wordpress Wamp offline & can't find the link now. It's pretty easy to setup with the video instructions.

Set-up the Static Content (Header, Footer, Sidebar, ETC), Using Wordpress. Then Create a wordpress page for each page of your HTML site then copy content to the wordpress page . It only needs copy and paste. It doesn't need to use Dreamweaver. You can use the visual editor in wordpress
