Default How to organize your keyword research?

Everytime when it comes to keyword research, I am flooded with a handful of information, especially spreadsheets etc.

Search competitions, competitor's backlink, etc. etc.

How do you guys keep these information organized? Any suggestions? Thanks

Hi PrincessJasmine.

How to do keyword research and learn what your customers need

Keyword research is the core of any SEO campaign, since the keywords you pick during the research will be included in your website copy, into your PPC campaigns and any other website promotion campaigns. In a sense, keyword research is similar to customer research, because you are studying what words your potential clients use when searching for your service or product.

Here is what you need to do to run a solid keyword research:

pick valid initial keywords
use a variety of sources
search from the point of view of your potential customers
get the most possible amount of keyphrases
keep the keywords that will attract the target audience
pick the small-medium competitive keyword phrases
spot the topics for your content (site pages, articles, blog posts, press releases, etc)
use keyword research data
write website content
Alright, let's go about this in detail.

Hi PrincessJasmine. We build Keyword Strategy to solve this exact problem. It's a database that connects with the Google Adwords Tool and other data sources and lets you download, sort and filter your keywords, track rank, etc. I've got 30,000 keywords in my project. :-)

I generally use a combination of spreadsheets, tags in Rank Tracker, and notes in Evernote to organize everything.

Lately, I have been thinking more and more towards moving to some kind of task management solution, but haven't done so yet.

Oh thats great.
So it seems like everyone is having trouble organizing their keyword research lol.

I was just experiencing the same thing;

keyword file from Google;
competition research from Market Samurai
PR and Anchor text from competitions etc.

more and more..
things are just out of control!

I'm saying I solved this problem. :-)

I built a huge database that connects directly to the Google tool to download keywords and remove duplicates. It pulls competition data from Google. Tracks your internal links backlinks and rank in Google.
