Hey guys, so I just started getting into adsense. I have a website in the relationship/dating niche with about 100 pageviews a day currently. The click payout is pretty bad. I'm getting $.03 to $.07 clicks with around a 5-10% CTR. Is there a way to increase this or is this niche just bad for Adsense?

It's just bad. Dating niche will be more profitable using CPA offers.

Don't judge Adsense too quickly, if you've got a really good site that's appropriate for advertisers, you want to give them some time to discover your site and start targeting your site specifically. That pushes the eCPM rates up. But in that niche, I'd think there are many more CPA ads you can run through other ads and affiliate programs. You'd make a lot more money that way. But one of the most popular sites out there Plenty of Fish, was monetized by Adsense for a long time. |

Besides page views, its also depends upon how many UV you got per day. The more the UVs more the chances of high click rate due to traffic diversity.

The only, and I mean only way to get high paying clicks, (high paying relative) is to have a kick-@$$ site that is targeted by high paying adwords users. Niche does not matter in most cases. Adwords users want results, and they will bid to be on your site. I do have some sites that I know adwords users are paying more for than search. Now I will contradict myself. Niche does matter, but only when talking of people targeting it on the display network. Obviously if few people are targeting the niche in the display network, your CPC will be lower on average. But you can still make money. The flip side is also true. You can have a student loan consolidation site that sucks at traffic, and get zero bidders, leading to pennies for clicks. If people would stop thinking pie-in-the-sky-high CPC, and actually creating something useful, they would get somewhere. Paul |

Hi everyone, I have a niche LGBT marriage site that I'm struggling to get monotonous. The traffic has steadily increased to over 200 hits per day. The theme is highly customized, could that be causing the issue? Currently I have 3 ads but none of them are getting clicks. I’m posting the site (not to promote it) but to see if you would take a look and provide some helpful feedback. The site is statesthatallowgaymarriage.com Any feedback is greatly appreciated! |

Find out what ads are being served to your site using adsense sandbox. Then block the low paying ads from appearing in your adsense account. Cheers. |

I wouldn't judge it so fast. Make sure you let it play out for about a month then see if you should monetize through adsense etc. I would make sure the niche itself shows more than $1 CPC on the adwords tool. (Try to shoot for even higher though if you KNOW you want to monetize though adsense) -Omar |

I think having a stable ranking on Search engines will get you more targeted visitors and clicks on your ads.

The bidding on keywords is not done on a per-site basis unless bidders have specifically requested to bid on your site AND your AdSense account has been configured to accept these types of bids. Adwords bidders are just as likely to target keywords in general rather then specific sites. That means you can still get high paying clicks without adwords bidders going to town on your site. Quote:
consolidation site that sucks at traffic, and gets plenty of bidders, leading to dollars for clicks. Like I said, there are plenty of Adwords bidders out there advertising on the content/display network that are not doing site specific targeting. Of course you said, "relative" so maybe you're only thinking of ultra monster clicks or something. But realistically for someone is OP's position any click over $1.50 or so would be pretty nice.

| OP, to answer your question there are plenty of ways to increase your earnings. One way you could try would be to turn on "interest based" advertising. This allows ad's that are not directly about the content of your site to be displayed based on demographic information from googles database rather then your sites content |

There's a wso on the warrior somewhere which teaches you how to increase your adsense earnings based on filtering out ads in the network with low cpc from being circulated on your blog. Pretty interesting wso, as the writer had case studies showing how he was increasing his adsense earnings without increasing post count or number of blogs. Search for "Google Adsense Insider Technique". It should still be active I think. Good luck. |

I tend to agree with Paul. You need an amazing site to get the CPC rate up. Joshua has a point about interest based advertising, but without a "kick-ass" site you won't see any earnings. Once your site has reached "kick-ass"status, adsense will be at the bottom of your earning totem pole.

I forgot to add. Most people making tons on adsense aren't whitehat and they won't tell you or sell you their secrets so don't waste time trying to buy the "newest" or "killer" methods.

Well there are a lot of factors to consider about adsense but I think that your niche is not the best one for adsense and as someone else said cpa programs would be much more profitable for your site. Anyway here is an article that I published on my blog a few days ago that will help you optimize adsense on your site for more clicks and better cpc advertisers... Having a fewer ad blocks may help you to get the highest paying clicks in that block. If you have more then one block the more ads will be shown and not all ads have high CPC.

I block some sites in adsense settings. Here "Allow & block Ads>Advertiser URLs" you can upload a list of sites you want to block. I uploaded the list 2 years ago and as I remember it helped Now I found fresh list and wanted to replace old one but I can't remove old blocked urls from adsense account. Do you know how to do it? Here is fresh list, don't know how and if it works How to Double Your Adsense Earnings Overnight | Wise Startup Blog |

I would say it would have a lot to do with your niche. Choose a niche thats got a high price on bids. Lets say Credit cards for example. They can pay up to like $10 a click. Keep in mind that they are much harder to rank for though and are flooded with heaps of people trying to get to the top. My suggestion is that if you want to make adsense money, choose your niche wisely! |

I would suggest that you check on the content of the niche..usually the ads are base on the content around it...

The problem is that you have too little organic or target traffic. Just 100 pageviews a day?? There is little statistic meaning with such low traffic to me. As for the niches, check the story of plentyoffish.com (now is rich enough to use pof.com instead) . The webmaster earns lots on adsense. You can search on google and to see the amount of his check.

With adsense I've found that sometimes the money you get when someone clicks on your adsense link depends on what that person does...after they click on the link and land on the destination page. If that person just immediately clicks away....then that click becomes less valuable. On the other hand, if they actually stay on that landing page for a while and look it over or click onto another page...then you get more per click. Although I have no proof of this....but I've seen my own adsense earnings vary from same site all over the place.
