Page 1, ranked 6th on Google. What should I do now?

Hi warriors,

I have a blog on page 1 of Google. It's getting ok traffic and has made some money. I have built backlinks using Social Bookmarking only. Can I get it to first spot even though a YouTube video is 1 and a Blogger blog is 2? I doubt I can outrank Google's own products. What do you think?

Any help/tips/suggestions are more then welcome.

i think you should now concentrate on your site's contents. social bookmarking is now quite good process to maintain good seo of your site. but when go for backlinks, then you shold keep in mind that your backlinks should come from relevant sites. backlinks from irrelevant sits can harm your ranking a lot. so be careful of that fact too.

Diversifying backlinks will help you cross temporary barriers and get to top 3 positions. Try article directories and few high pr profile links. I am not talking about hundreds or thousands of links. Try throwing in articles on a dozen of top directories for now and wait to see if there's any movement in rankings.

Youtube and blogspot holding top 2 positions is a good sign that you can knock them off with little relevant backlinks. Outranking Google's own products is a piece of cake. If you see a free blogger blog holding top position then you can knock it off easily with a simple WP site alongwith keyword rich .com domain.

Afterall its like a game. Just try experimenting the various backlinking methods you have heard of and hopefully some good result will come your way.

One question about your blog though - Is it a site itself or some free Web 2 properties like wordpress?

I use the Wordpress Blog platform and free themes. Nothing special

keep doing the link building but increase the diversity and dont do mass spamming like xrummer or scrapebox

getting to 6 is a lot easier than getting from 6 to 1
so perhaps, just to give you an idea, consider replicating / multiplying instead of strengthening

nobody can predict this, but i suppose you can make 10 or 20 sites easier than maintain one site at rank 1

many sites also gives reduction of risk - some do bad , some do good

that said I am personally an authority site preferer by personality rather than many sites

just food for thought

Like Dan Wilson said, you need to do as much as possible to get good, quality, relative backlinks to your site on a regular basis.

Try doing the following:

1. Digg article
2. Hubpages
3. Article marketing
4. Blog commenting/do follow
5. classified ads from craigslist, backpage, usfreeads.com, Kijiji.ca
6. social networking sites
7. video site like Youtube, revver, google video, daily motion, ect... make a video and submit to tubemogal for distribution
8. Blogger blog pointing back to you main site.

The list goes on. That should keep you busy for a while.

Social bookmarking should not be the only choice when it comes to backlinks creation. Not always but in most of the cases even 100's of backlinks from same site is considered as one link. So more the sources more the benefit and look like natural.

See what your competition is doing. If they're on page one, then chances are they're doing something right. See if you can use some of the same sources.

You need to diversify your backlinks from just social bookmarks, try getting some contextual backlinks then you can outrank anybody, google product or not.

Diversify your links. There are lots of other backlinking methods that you can use such as blog comment and forums. Also, focus on onsite SEO as well.

	A way to promote a blog is to submit blog to BlogsAvenue.Com and another site for blog submission is BlogrollCenter.Com.
