Default PR backlink question

Hello

I have a question about PR and backlinks. Say I wanted to get my backlink on a PR6 directory. But the page where the link gets put is not actually a PR6 page, only the home page is PR6. Does that mean my link still counts as a PR6 backlink? Or is it a PR0 backlink due to the page being PR0.

Thanks

Goes by the page not the site. There may be a little juice coming through from the PR6 page because they are linked but you will not be getting a PR6 link

So although people make posts and sell products that offer certain PR links, you will not be actually getting the PR of the front page linking to you?

I found a list of "Instant Approval Directories" on this website, all with pretty good PR. Lets take this website as an example Digitaleveuk.org

Although it is a PR4 website, the page where my backlink would be is PR0. So in reality, im only getting a PR0 backlink?

It might even only be a PR n/a backlink. Definitely not a PR 4 backlink though, and it has little chance of pulling any juice from the homepage. On a directory site like that, there are no homepage backlinks leading to the listings. They don't just automatically pass PR from the domain. PR passes through links.

It's not just Directories though, I have a list of PR1-3 websites all within my niche that have a links page. Although the majority of these pages are all PR0 or n/a. So that means all these links are pretty much worthless?

Yes worthless.

Especially when a site has a 'links' page. Not only is it a PR 0 page normally, but it also is splitting up the PR it passes on among each site it is linking to. Often these type of pages have 50+ links on them. Sometimes well over 100. Split up the PR juice from a PR 0 or even PR 1 on that type of page... useless.

The PR of the homepage and other pages are totally different. So, if you navigate away from the homepage, then you are not in a PR 6 page anymore.

Those links aren't worthless.

It is difficult to get the hompage link, but it is certainly more effective to receive backlink from an inner page of an higher PR domain than a lower PR domain -- even if both inner pages are PR0.

Its per page, not site. This is how a lot of people get over on unsuspecting people. I'm not saying your not getting benefit but its not what you think.

They are not worthless, but they are not the same value as a link on the actual page that has the pagerank, at least as a general rule. There is an advantage to getting these kinds of links, as the sites get crawled more often, thus making it more likely that your link gets crawled.

In short, yes.

The only advantage of putting profile links on a domain with a higher PR is there was probably a better chance of that profile link eventually getting crawled and indexed, but it was still unlikely to happen.

Well for sure the page from where you are getting a backlink wouldn't be of the same PR but the domain authority of the website will count from whose internal page you are getting a backlink from.

First of all, PR is updating all the time. A webpage doesn't just gain or lose PR the day a toolbar update is released. Google just doesn't keep the toolbar PR in real time, but the actual PR they are using is updated all the time.

Second, it is highly unlikely it will ever gain any PR. Unless their is a direct backlink from the homepage to your listing, which I have never seen a directory setup that way, you will never see any PR passed to the page where your listing resides. PR passes through links.

That way of doing it seems so broken. For example.

directory4u.net/wpis-2podkat-606.html

If I were on page one of those listings, it would be a PR1 backlink. But any other page and PR0.

I know its a directory but it would be the same is a website had a page 2 on his links page.

Its not by the homepage, its by the specific site. A homepage can have a PR5 and its other pages be PR0

the benefit of going into directories is the potential traffic which can come through from people searching for your services. but as said, you dont get same PR as the homepage even though some of that juice will be passed down it wont actualy be a PR6 link!
