Default Question with google's allintitle: broad and phrase data

I use allintitle to get an idea of how many indexed documents use my kw in their title tags... I do them in two ways, broad and phrase:

allintitle:best wordpress plugins
allintitle:"best wordpress plugins"

And the results are 83k and 398k respectively for that kw. My question is how can the broad search results ever be less than the phrase search results? Normally, broad is always greater.

My data shows a good percentage of keywords where the broad allintitle results are less than the phrase allintitle for a given kw. Hopefully someone can explain... thanks

Hi PWTMike,

The word "about" means just that, it is an educated guess, not actual data. You are looking at the "about" numbers as if it is suppose to be true data, it isn't.

Google uses a prediction algorithm to predict how many documents might exist and uses that for the "about" number.

If you append the following URL parameter to your queries you will see that there are far fewer actual results for the exact phrase search.

allintitle:best wordpress plugins - Google Search
allintitle:"best wordpress plugins" - Google Search

You will note that there is only 508 actual results returned for the exact phrase search.
