Hey guys, So when I search 'speed dating london' it comes up with 'Speed dating places near London' and a slightly different looking list above the regular results. How do you appear on here? It would seem like a much better way for my website as pretty much every major keyword i'm after is 'Speed dating LOCATION'. Thanks! |

It has been our experience that local SEO like is extremely hard to predict and optimize for. Google places (formerly Google Maps) is becoming much user based especially in large markets like London. This because the the competition in these large markets is huge. Places also dominates the results now for any local search making natural optimization of very little value. The locksmith scam of a couple years ago really made Google open it's eyes to over optimization in the local market. In short -- forget it, unless you have a huge budget and lots of time. |

I think, here, 'near' is considered as stop word (though I am not sure) To get into search results, you have to get listed in Google places. Here are some tips to make your listing effective, - Claim your listings - Add a brief description about your business - Add Google photograph in your listing - Get citations for your listings - Build your website (Its not mandatory but it can help in driving good leads) - Optimize your website for the keywords |
