Just wanted to rant.... I just set up a Flippa auction for a website that was ranked #3 out of 6.5 million searches for a particular key phrase. It was sitting there just fine until I created the auction last night. This morning, I checked the site in Google and now it has dropped to page 10. When do type in "www.sitename.com" into Google, I see that the Flippa auction links are showing as back links. Did Flippa mess up my rank? (I did a View Source on the page, and the links are all nofollow.) The sad part is that I was using the fact that it was ranked #3 as a selling point within the auction. Is that a generally a good idea or not? Is it a successful strategy to tout the fact that the site is ranked highly in, in your auction description? Now even if I get to work on adding more quality back links to the site, I don't know if the site will recover its rankings before the auction expires (3 days). |
