How to optimize google local listing ????HELP

can anyone tell me how can we optimize google local listing....what is the process for it...i read many tutorials/books but they only told how to create google maps..so, plz anyone tell me ..

Go to Google's local page then click on add business....

When we did our business we got an automated call to the number we put in and had to enter an authorization code that we got from that phone call.

Wasn't sure that we did it right, but we are on Google Local so I guess we did.

Thanks for telling me that but i want to know about how to optimize or grab it to first page

...i know how to create google maps..so please tell me how to optimize google maps....

To get into search results, you have to get listed in Google places.

Here are some tips to make your listing effective,
- Claim your listings
- Add a brief description about your business
- Add Google photograph in your listing
- Get citations for your listings
- Build your website (Its not mandatory but it can help in driving good leads)
- Optimize your website for the keywords
