For doing keyword research before I start creating content I want to rank highly for I usually just use Googles free keyword tool and it gives me enough ideas to run with. For others interested in using it you can go to: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal For those Warriors who use different keyword research tools, what are some of the best ones you use and what are some key benefits above and beyond the free google tool? |

I'm not sure there are any better free ones than KeywordToolExternal other than trial versions of Traffic Travis etc. But I mainly use Market Samurai. What I don't like about Google's Keyword Tool, External or Adwords versions, is that it doesn't show accurate SEO competition. Market Samurai does plus it gives a good rundown of the page optimization of competing sites to show the true competition you're up against when researching niche keywords. |

Keyword research tools are good for discovering new niches. Once you have settled on your keyword(s), search in google for similar keywords ( also known as LSI content ). In your article(s), maintain around 3 - 4 % of main keyword density and do a fair sprinkling of LSI keywords and you will have an awesome article from onpage SEO angle. |

Market Samurai is the only software that I am using and it is very handy. Although Market Samurai is also using Google Keyword Tool in searching keywords, it is still much easier for me to use Market Samurai.

| I don't like google tools for one thing, it shows me only a few keywords. I use semrush for researching keywords, as it usually shows 10 times more words, but unfortunately I Have to use google tools, when I'm not sure of semrush statistics for particular keyword. So usually my process of researching starts in semrush, and continuing in google keyword tool.
