There are some really good online tools out there like RavenTools. For something a little less pricey, check out Advanced Web Ranking or SEO Powersuite's Rank Tracker. Both are really good. |

I heard good things about Advanced Web Ranking. Is that a offline tool? or is it web based?

| SEO Powersuites Rank Tracker is my system of choice. It is a downloadable software which you can schedule tasks to check rankings and email reports so you can leave it running on a PC with the internet and literally not even touch it. |

Both Advanced Web Ranking and Rank Tracker are desktop applications. Both allow you to schedule tasks, print reports, FTP ranking reports to a server, email reports... Pretty much anything you would need to do. I use both just to double check the rankings, but that isn't really necessary for everyone. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. I believe both have trials, so you can try them out and see what you think.

I recently singed up to sescout and use that for the overall graph. I've found it pretty accurate in terms of getting a broader picture rather than day to day which it is not much use for since it only updates sporadically n the free version which I'm using. |

Thanks. Just wondering, if I use Rank Tracker to track my SERPs, does it use my connection for the tracking process? wouldnt that kill my connection? (IE: Google blocking / blacklisting my IP eventually?) Thanks again |

If this is for offline clients, I'd probably go with Raven Tools. Their suite will be of more benefit to you.

| You can set either Rank Tracker or AWR for "human emulation" where it will pause at it is searching the SERPS and prevent that temporary Google ban. Rank Tracker also allows you to load up proxies it will rotate through. I believe AWR does too, but I forget off the top of my head.

They both are pretty good. As far as accuracy, I have not seen a noticeable difference between the two. Honestly, they both have a free trial. I would try them out and see which one you are more comfortable with.

There are some good tool suggestions listed here. Which of these tools (AWR/Rank Tracker/Raven Tools) do you guys feel produces the nicest SERP analytics reports - ones that could be generated quickly and used to help land clients? I have actually used trial installs of WebCEO just to put together a "pre-sales" website analysis report to show prospective clients. Prospects love to see that you've done your homework on their site when you meet with them, and I leave the report behind which for me has led to getting the business 100% of the time. I'm not selling SEO services specifically, but selling SEO-friendly Wordpress web redesigns. It would be great to have one tool that can generate pretty reports upfront (kind of like HubSpot Website grader + SERP data). Then, also track SERP ranking progress over time and generate monthly reports if we upsell SEO services. |

Rob, You could use PowerSuite's Rank Tracker and Website Auditor to do that. |

I just tried Rank Tracker today (Thanks Mike). It seems extremely useful AND a powerful too. I like their reporting feature, but it looks too professional lol. I am wondering if clients will find out that I am doing this with just 1-click LOL. Anyone experience this? |

PrincessJasmine, I've produced WebCEO reports for prospective clients in the past. I wouldn't worry about clients knowing that you are doing the work with 1-click, just like you shouldn't worry about clients finding out about all of the other tools you use in your business to make YOUR job easier. Part of what makes YOU the professional is knowing what tools are out there at your disposal, and how best to utilize them. Position yourself as the SEO expert who is delivering them an in-demand service, and since the service has value to them - they will be ecstatic! 95% of your clients will be clueless about online marketing, SEO, and technology in general, and you are delivering them a valuable service that will have a strong ROI. If your client increases sales and acquires new customers, they aren't going to spend time trying to decode what tools you are using to get their results or generate reports. The results sell themselves BTW... If I had a client who learned my "secret tools" and decided to fire me and do it themselves (whether SEO, web development, social media management, or other services), then that is a client I wouldn't want in the first place. Why? They are clearly obsessed with spending their time focusing on things other than their core business, which probably means they won't be successful in the long term. Instead of playing around with my tools, they should be spending their time servicing and promoting to all of the new customers that my "secret tools" are bring them, right? |
