Facebook Fan Page Marketing

hey, i want to create a page for my site: Chess Training School | Real Chess Training. Real Results.

i now did... I want to know 2 things:
how can i get a ton of people on there (my niche market is chessplayers) i dont want to pester my 1000 or so friends on there.

Also, if i want people to be added, do they need to be my friends?

I titled this the way it is because i would like to here if there are tools, tips or suggestions to build something good. I am planning to use iFrameWrapper: best FBML alternative | Facebook (iFrame wrapper) for mine.
