How to get TRAFFIC to a NEW site?

Hi I created a webpage: Chess Training School | Real Chess Training. Real Results.

its a chesswebsite offering lessons.. I have done ok with SEO, PR4 page.

I get almost no traffic through. I get about 1 visitor per article/blog post. this is all i can do other than google adwords for traffic...

I havent done anything else, can you guys suggest me some resources, or good ideas/tricks to implement to get traffic?

As for other methods to drive traffic, make sure you do the basics:

Submit your site to Google, Yahoo, and Bing.

Share it on Facebook/Twitter/Stumble Upon.

Do some social bookmarking.

Ping it when you update it.

Answer questions on Yahoo! Answers and leave a link back to your page.

Comment on blogs that are RELEVANT to your niche, that way you can build backlinks AND targeted traffic at the same time.

You can experiment with PPC if you have the budget for that (and the patience to watch your $ drain for awhile, lol)

There are millions of things you can do to increase your traffic. Literally millions, if not billions of ways to drive traffic.. lol just gotta stick to one and make it work.

But you may also want to rethink your keyword research. "chess training" may not be the way to go. How about "online chess"? I think it would still attract the visitors you want.

Hey, thats an awesome suggestion, i just looked it up 90,000! a month... how did you find that keyword so quickly? did you use a specific tool, i would like to know how to target the highest paid keyword in a niche.. ofcourse in my niche to wrtie aricle posts for them

there are alot of things you can do.
for right now, the most important thing is to get your site keyword optimized.
i'll PM you a keyword phrase that has very little competition and you can build your site around it.

Also, your youtube videos should be keyword optimized in the title and description.
All of your youtube videos should have a link pointing back to your site in the video description as well.

As you have the site that related to some course or for the training. So i would like to advised you to get more quality backlinks from .edu sites more as it will be more helpful. But it will not be easy for you to create the link of edu sites as it is so tough and more strict rules. So you need to provide the useful information only.
And more result join the social network , find the people that are of relevant field to you and with whom you can make the effective discussion.
And these days blogs , articles ,videos and social bookmarking and directory submission be more helpful to you. So you can use these techniques also for the results.

And find the education related blog using this method and make effective comment on the blogs as it will provide the more better result. Method for finding the blog :

Ive put thought into this.. i have my web guy setting up a optin box where they get 1 free class voucher coupon for their email.

The youtube thing isnt a bad idea, but just make sure you ask their permission to record & post it.

Maybe tell them that you record the session so you can give them a copy to review. Then once its finished, ask if they would also allow you to post it on your YT channel for a little self-promotion.

you would call it
chess how to do the tarragon strategy

you could re-do your entire website titles and descriptions to be "chess how to learn from a professional trainer" or something like that.

your articles could be something like

chess how to use your pawns effectively
chess how to learn the basics
chess how to hire a personal tutor (yourself of course)
chess how to use your bishops
chess how to use your bishops and pawns together (and all the other combinations)

there are so many videos and articles you could do.

look in the google keywords for "chess how" and you'll see there are many searches for it and very little competition.

Very right about how increasing the traffic, SEO and social media are the right internet marketing techniques of increasing the traffic to new website. As website is very new, then it need to get index first and slow do the backlinking, which will help in increasing the traffic and Page rank...

this isn't hard advice, but what follows is my opinion.

You can use "chess how".... as your overall titles, tags, and descriptions. This is a keyword with many searches. You'd also use it on your page text as well.

In addition to that, you'd also include the other keywords in the article, on the page, and /or in the video title or description.

Chess How to learn from a chess trainer
OR
chess how to learn from a chess tutor

so the above two titles have a broad keyword and a smaller used keyword. both will bring traffic.

"online chess". It's okay, but most people typing this in are looking to play chess online. They aren't necessarily looking for someone to show them how to play chess. Bigfishgames has an affiliate program and I just checked and they have three chess games. One of the looks like alot of fun called war chess. I might play that one.
anyways, on your pages with the phrase online chess, you can have links to these games. I like bigfishgames because they do the follow-up for you and any customer you get is your customer for one year.

You could probably even download and put on your site Kung Fu Chess and Laser Chess. Making video tutorials of these games can also point back to your site and will help.

Ok, i got going too long for the keyword "online chess".

I see people are typing in how to learn chess online. That would be a good keyword for a few pages or articles. the search volume is low but it is still enough to bring traffic.

As far as the broad, exact, phrase options, i think the majority of people just type in what they are looking for. a few who are specific may use the quotes. but these are for if you are buying ads through adwords. An advertiser may not want to pay for the variations of chess how (broad). They may only want to pay for one specific phrase (exact, phrase).

in the adwords tool, if you tick the box saying only show ideas close to my search terms (chess how) you'll also see how to learn chess
how to play chess, etc,etc
it may seem redundant to put Chess: How to Learn Chess.
But that is what works.

I see "personal chess trainer" is something as well. not to build your site on but to use on a few pages or vids.

To sum up:
Find a keyword with lots of searches and build your site on that.
Keywords with smaller search amounts will be right along with the main site keyword.
As a result, you're getting the best of both worlds.

Chess How to find a chess trainer
chess how to hire a personal chess trainer
chess how to play online chess

Those three above could be article/ video titles.

A site I recently started is on the keyword ps3-walkthroughs. I saw there was little competition.
You'll notice PS3 Walkthroughs appears in the titles as well as on the page.

It's currently on 3rd page in google. I recently had a hit from some keywords to it. It wasn't from ps3 walkthroughs, it was from skyrim ps3 walkthrough and skyrim is a game i have on site.

That's why you want to use both the broad based keywords (chess how) side by side with the smaller ones (chess trainer).

And remember to give people exactly what they are looking for. Are those people typing in online chess looking to learn how to play chess or are they looking to play an online chess game for free ?
I don't know if shockwave.com has chess games, but many gaming sites, let you embed their games into your website.

Yes, you're correct... Chess Training: blah blah. I would say though, that if you build your site on the phrase chess training,
you should still use the chess how somewhere on some or all of your pages,titles, descriptions.

when they use quotes, i'm on the first page. i get about 25 visits a day and at least 1 adsense click if not more.
i currently get around 25-50 visits a day.

in google analytics, i see people are hitting my pages alot from the smaller searched keywords.

I did have a wide website with alot of ads, but i recently changed the template to keep peoples eyes more focused on the content and a thinner website (like it is now) which has resulted in more adsense clicks as well as a higher value received on some of those clicks.

I just recently started adding music videos.

as your site grows people may not have the exact address but they'll look for your site via search engines. I had that happen to a domain I once had called the fun zone and people were typing in fun zone ps3 move games (i had a ps3 move mini-site)

I use xsitepro as it lets you make changes quickly and easily.
