Search ranks dramatic drop but page rank increased, help!

Hello Friends,

How are you ? Hope all is well//
I ordered a 5,000 backlink package from one of the WSO's around 55 days ago, the service was completed 14 days ago, and my rankings raised from 33 to 11, 32-11, and 56-8 which was great. But a couple of days ago my rankings dropped dramatically and I am now 65 63 (bean bags) and no ranking respectively.

What's weird is that my page rank has actually gone up. (domain from 3 to 4 and subs from 2 to 3)

I am at loss as to why this might have happened..

Any advice would help as this has been a major blow to my Christmas sales :-(

I have the same issues with my sites. The high PR sites I have dont even have traffic.

PR has nothing at all to do with ranking, it has to do with the PR of the links connecting to your site. If you are trying to rank for the term "widget" and you get 1 link from Apple.com with the anchor text "this site sucks", your PR will go up because of the high PR Apple.com has but you won't at all increase your rankings for the term "widget".

On top of that there are about 1 million other ranking factors, PR and site ranking have virtually no correlation.

The links may or may not have had anything to do with it. It might help if you explain what kind of link package you ordered.

Also some details about your site... large site, small site, old site, brand new, affiliate, Adsense, etc.

I have an ecommerce website that is almost a year old, it sells 2 products and is pretty small.
I actually ordered the 5,000 indexed article backlink pack from Matt Laclear.
Before ordering the package the site was ranked in the 3rd page, then jumped up to 11, and now is down to the 7th page on all three keywords.

Approximately how long ago did it make it to #11, about how long did it stay there, and when did you notice the drop?

Did the links blasted to your site all have the same anchor text? If not, how many different anchor text variations were used?

I think it's been stated that PageRank is not as important as it used to be. It's all about trust now.

I searched for your ticket and didn't see any campaigns under your WF name. Did you sign up under a different name? I wanted to check your ticket to see if you received all your links. If you PM your ticket ID I will take a look at your ticket.

PR has absolutely no correlation to rankings. There's far too many factors for us to tell you why your rankings have dropped.

I can only guess and based on my guess:
- Your site has gone from PR 3 to PR 4 which is a good sign and shows your PR has not been penalized. Also your site seems to have enough authority to bare 5000 backlinks or even more
- You got some backlinks with anchor text XXX and they worked fine but you had no continuity in your backlinks. So despite the short-term effect of one time built backlinks your anchor didn't have continuity and that is what matters for your ranking. Start building backlinks with the same anchor every day for two or three weeks. You can for example comment on relevant forums with do-follow signature with your anchor text. If my guess is right there is no penalization but simply because you didn't have continuous anchors the effect of the ones you purchased is gone. Then by building some continuous backlinks for a while you will rank up even higher than before. Don't forget it takes some time for you to see the result of your today's efforts so be patient. Some times it only takes a few days and some times up to two months. Most of the times you see some results in less than 3 weeks.

HEy Mike,

apologize for the late reply, just got off work. The site made it to #11 around 2 1/2 weeks ago and stayed there till a week ago. the links were for 3 different keywords

make sure the content on your site remains fresh every few days.

make sure you continue your backlinking campaigns, keep at least one or two different campaigns running per site per month.

Yeah true even in last july pr update my all pages PR went 3 but my keyword position was going down and down so there are so many reasons which affects ranking

Your PR will be allocated but wont do you any good because of relevancy. For your rankings you just got nabbed by Google - Always ask question to vendors that give out services like the backlink packages. If you don't your website will be part of there land fill that Google can detect.

And that is why people not advised to buy the backlinks. As before times it provide the best result but not for the long time. As after that when google found your site with such links that are not relevant and unique then it can affect your site negatively. So always go for building the backlinks manually as they are relevant and unique for our site. Though this will take some time for your site results but those results are for the long time. Or if you can not do manual work then hire anyone for your site work but be careful in choice of it.
