Default Why wont my clients site rank?

Jan Barnes: Expert Lexington Park Real Estate Agent

I paid for 100 dofollow backlinks and at least 30 of them were over pr4 like 2 weeks ago. This niche has practically 0 competition. What am I doing wrong? I believe the SEO is good. I've had 110 Page views literally in a month with 46 unique views. My #1 keyword is "lexington park real estate", yet i'm on like page 6. What other info do you need to further assist me? Please help

I normally buy some social bookmarking gigs on Fiverr and that increases my position in the serps tremendously. I also use Matt LaClear's backlinking services. 100 backlinks may not be enough to do it. Obviously, you do have some competition if you are on page 6.

The SEO is very bad and seriously you should not be taking people's money to do SEO if you have to get directions from a forum. Its not right.

How bad is it?

The page you linked to as wanting to rank does not even have the phrase that you want to rank anywhere in the content section. this is just basic. People might get upset for me saying this but taking money to do SEO is pretty close to or in fact fraud if you really do not know how to do it.

IF the client is a client for something else you do then I can understand but if it isn't then you need to consider giving a refund. Like I said its not right.

No, this is for free, I have taken no money for this job. I offered my first job for free, but it's going not as good as I planned.

Traffic travis told me it would be easy to rank for this term. Idk how else to tell how hard it is. That's why I thought 100 would do, but I suppose buying more can't hurt.

Mike, now that you mention it, the home page was supposed to be a blog showing houses they recently sold with SEO'd content, but I forgot I put that page as the home page because the client didnt want to do the blog idea. Either way I should have optimized all the pages to perfection.

Also, what makes it very bad? I thought it was at least pretty good. Besides missing that keyword, is that what is very bad? Thanks

Your actual ranking is #11, so perhaps you were a little impatient in checking.

IN that case I can understand but when you said client it implies payment. I'd do a little reading online - (NOte: not here but search on google) for basic SEO principles. Unfortunately a lot of people here think throwing all kinds of backlinks at a page is the answer for everything. There is something called on page SEO and seeking quality links.

IF you tell me why and what you think is good I might be able to point you to places you can learn about what your don't presently. Including your keyword phrase in the content is extremely basic and then even in H1 tags etc You NEED to have that or you will face serious issues. So YES that is the number one problem but theres more problems as well

Hm, I've cross referenced with a few different tools and it says your site has no back-links running to it?

As for competition, I see the number 1 spot for that paticular keyword has 6,000 back-links as well as a PR 6.

I didn't look any further then that - but I imagine the competition is a lil' stiff!

The first spot is a directory site. I assumed they have tens of thousands of cities on there. So 6000 spread among all those different pages still is weak for this niche, no?

Mike, basic stuff includes the keyword once per paragraph, in the h1's, in the url, alt tags on the pictures, stuff like that. Most of that stuff persists. Should I just optimize the whole website for that one word, and then add content to master the others? Problem is, without them willing to do the blog idea i mentioned above, I cannot think of much content to write.

True.

Since you're the consultant/expert if you suggest something like setting up a blog, especially for silo-structuring, and they tell you, NO!!

Then you have to inform them that their results may be limited!!

Yeah as soon as you do some on-page optimisation you should get a good boost. Its not hard. If you really don't know how to do this there is a free WSO by a warrior called seoslayer that will set you on the right track.

As the others have said, the onsite SEO is really really bad. I don't like the sloppy artisteer coding either although it shouldn't hurt you in rankings much. You have to be realistic and look at what your working with, none of the keywords in the domain, very little content and a newer domain.

It's going to take alot of work to get this one even to page 2. If your client doesn't understand then you might ask: Zillow (huge real estate site) is at the bottom of page 1, what does Jan Barnes website offer that zillow doesn't offer already? You have to give google a reason to rank it higher than the competition.

I don't think it'll be that hard. But first you REALLY need to clean up your on page SEO. That Zillow site has ZERO external links, and in terms of on-page SEO its also very weak. Its only ranking on the merit of its title tag and the fact thats an authoritive domain. Just get some killer unique content up that has been keyword optimised, then start getting some high-PR links to it. Sure it may take you a few months to get there, but Real Estate is a lucrative niche so once you're there it will provide huge value to your client.

You need to vary up the backlinks, just buying 100 links and sitting there hoping to rank will not get you far. Diversify you linking from articles, web 2.0s bookmarks homepage backlinks etc!! Once you hit it with a few of these then your site should stick there if nobody else is actively link building

Your competitors are backlinking every day. You can count on that. So should you too. If you get used to submitting links every work day you'll see results. Plus you won't be so prone to being impatient with your campaign. Also try to only check on your rankings once a week or so. That way your emphasis will be geared towards linking rather than rank checking. When you check your rankings every day that usually is a recipe for impatience.

Keep your chin up.

OP, don't settle for ranking a single page.

Believe it or not, it's not that difficult to rank multiple pages per keyword by creating multiple internal pages with internal keyword anchor-text links pointing at the page your trying to rank.

Point most quality external links at the main landing page & a few per internal supporting page.

Especially with low competition keywords this technique works most times & with less external backlinks, don't get me wrong, you still need some quality external links.

Doing this, you'll rank better long-term with less work needed in the future (depending on competition).

SEO isn't a 1 time process mate, try to build backlinks every week & most important 'diversify' your link base.
Its excellent to have 500 backlinks pointing to your website, but its bad if all of them are social bookmarks, instead I'd allocate a %age to every method.
Also make sure the on-page SEO is proper, else it'd be like trying to run a petrol based car on jet fuel.

Forum members are very right about SEO process, It is not one time process. You need to keep doing SEO until you rank your keywords to the top of search engine. Some time keywords have low competition but need more and more backlinks to get good ranking.

I think SEO is on going process which require working over the time as you backlinks some time remove or some time websites close from where you have backlinks. For improving the ranking you need to keep doing backlinking....
