Changing WP theme affect rankings?

If you change your WordPress theme, will this effect the search engine rankings of your site or not?

I've heard some people say they didn't want to change their theme because they were worried about their rankings being effected, so im unsure.

as long as your title tag and content is the same - you should be ok.

It will mess with your SERP rankings If both themes are very different in site structure.

you would want to make sure the new theme is still on-page optimized - if the site structure dramatically changes then it could effect it a bit, but as on-page is only about 20% of the way for SEO links counting the other 80%, your content will be the same, and so will the external links so it should be fine. If you have changed a lot of things then its a case of fixing up on-page such as your title tags, H-tags and also alt tags on images.

There are great chances that the rankings will be affected no matter to what extent. It can go up or down depending upon the new theme design and layout. Before moving to new one, make sure there should be no big/significant change in semantic structure and the contents.
