Personally I prefer the Google Keyword External Tool, simply for the potential niches you can find all the time, and for free

Best keyword research tool is Market Samurai, if you buy it is great but even free version is good for keyword research you can use it as long as you wish

I recommend WordTracker - it has great tools and makes it easy to compile lists of keywords from a simple seed word. It is a subscription product so if your on a budget, nothing wrong with the keyword tool offered by Google.

I am using Google adwords tool for keywords research, this tool provide local and globally search traffic and completions, So you can easily decide which keywords are useful for you.If market Samurai is crashing for you then they always fix it quickly. It has had its problems in the past but it is more important to see how the developers react to these problems.

I've used Micro Niche Finder in the past, but I find it's a little slow and does not have friendly UI, but delivers good results. I've also tried Market Samurai, but I somehow didn't really find it effective - I thought it was too complicated to use. I've recently discovered LongTailPro and have found it the easiest to use by far. I think it depend on the budget you have to spend, and how experienced you are in doing keyword research. |

I just tried SerpIQ as suggested above. I managed to crash the system. I think they need to put some data validation into the interface.

Keyword Strategy is the best overall tool for finding and managing keywords, but there is a monthly fee.

I enjoy using Google's External Keyword Tool and Traffic Travis because of their simplicity.

AWStats by a mile. I have many pages ranked for terms getting me modest traffic per month (200-400) when GAKT told me zero searches on broad. Get your keywords from AWStats. Find out what pages ranked for what term. Write a page on those keywords (if it is new) calling it the new key word and link back to the original article. Double listing here we come. (in most case, not all of course) |

Gain Instant Access to the SEO Book Keyword Tool This tool is only accessible to logged in members who have registered a free account. When we made this tool publicly accessible without registration some people were scraping it excessively, so we are now forced to require people to login to an account. Setting up a basic account is free and takes less than 1 minute. |

SECockpit... SECockpit blows them all away. MNf is a piece of sh&t and way over-priced-a real lightweight. MS takes too long for analysis. Google adword tool is good and the SEO section of Traffic Travis has its uses. SECockpit does it all in one-fell-swoop. |

Why use a paid tool when you can go straight to the source? The Google Keyword Tool. It's what most of the tools use anyway. Using it directly is a LOT faster.

I have different approach to keyword research. I would use software like Market Samurai or Long Tail Pro, but I would also go a little bit further with my analysis and do some manual work as well. I would go to Amazon and find related terms in Books. I would also look at competitors to find what they are doing. Then I will use MS or LTP to do deeper SEO competition analysis. |

Adword tool is good for the searches of keywords as exact, board and medium. But the competition figure I do not think is that much prices as it should be. For accurate values use raven marketing tool. It will provide you complete compitition and keyword analysis.
