Arrow Case study - How did I rank a new EMD domain #1 in one month

I thought of giving away one of my simple SEO formulas I am successfully using! showing what I did to rank one website as an example. It's today I got time to write this post because of this thanks giving college break....

Edit : This is NOT a success story. This is an Example case study taking just one website as an example. To generate a good income you have to rank as many websites as possible like this.

Here my focus is to show a simple and cost effective method to rank a website.

Lets come to the topic...

I did some key word research & bought a new Exact Match .org domain [.com and .net was already taken]
The niche was medium competitive (or less medium competitive since it's not an affiliate key word). Not tough as "Auto insurance quotes" and not easy as "internet explorer ipad"

Global Monthly searches (Exact Match) - 40,500 (It means daily 1350 users are searching using this exact keyword - This number is not accurate, but closer to the number as the google keyword tool values are not that accurate)

1. I set up wordpress and posted 5x500 unique good quality articles relevant to the. Installed the basic plugins and added the about page & contact page

2. First week I set up 20 web 2.0 properties(all do follow) with 22% unique spun articles (one unique article spun 20 times - I used the free version of spinnerchief). All those made with images because I don't want them to be removed later. This type of links are very powerful in a long run. My VA has done this manually - did not use any tools.

I used some inter-linking between these properties too - Not like a link wheel. I did some inter layering and got more link juice passed to the Wordpress, Blogger & Weebly pages.

3. Scheduled all these web 2.0 properties to daily 1000 xrumer blast for related set of keywords (all blogs together - not individually) for continuous 30 days.

4. Started making 4-5 manual do follow blog comments daily on high PR pages. (Page with less than 200 OBL)

5. After 1-2 weeks (or near by, I don't remember the day exactly) did a direct AMR (Article) blast - only to directories with PR0+ Got around 150 live links.

At the end of two weeks the rank was #66 on google (I don't care about other search engines)

6. After two weeks I gave a 1000 direct xrumer blast to the site using a set of non-targeted key words and did the same one week after this too - Just scheduled and it happened automatically.

The purpose of using this xrumer blast was to diversify the anchor text. I usually use 50% of links with my targeted anchor and the rest with a few other keywords and and also exact url.

7. Gave a 15000 Links ScrapeBox blast to the web 2.0 properties.

After 18 days rank was #32

8. Then I ordered a bulk Social Bookmarking Service (1000+ live links both do follow and nofollow). You can either do it in your own or order a bulk social bookmarking service

Checked the ranking after 3 weeks (3 days after the completion of social bookmarking) and the site was in #5 (Yes, social bookmarks are very effective currently for short term boosts)

9. Added some more High PR blog comments (daily 5-10)

I pinged all Xrumer & Social Bookmarking URLs. Added them to two indexing services. [I used the free version]

Rank was #1 from the 27th day.

Average unique daily visitors : 700-800 & Average daily adsense income $10
But it will come down to $4-$5/day if it fell down to 2nd rank.

Some of the web 2.0 properties got Page Rank too now (4 got PR2 and 5 got PR1). Because the PR update occurred nearly 20 days after I started blasting them. Also my main site (money site) is PR3

I continued the xrumer blast to the web 2.0 properties for 30 days.

My conclusion and opinion.

My focus was to get diversified links (Contextual web 2.0, Social Bookmarks, Blog comments, Article, Profile, etc). Getting long term powerful links - web 2.0, Not all social bookmarking and Blog comment links are long term but there are good for immediate rank boost. However 50% of them are likely to last for long term.
Profile & Article backlinks are not powerful as they used to be. They give some rank improvement but not as they used to be.
Article directories were hunted by google after the panda started. Profile links were hunted even before that. However they work to some extent.
Some people blast articles with Xrumer/ScrapeBox but I did not use it because blasting web 2.0 gives much better results than blasting articles - Especially after panda!
You can direct blast the money site with xrumer but limit it to a small number and also make sure you drip feed it.

Here my focus is to show a simple and cost effective method. But, for highly competitive niches you may need to add some more methods spending more money.

SEO techniques changes with time so... test, research and read that will keep you updated always. If you continue the SEO you did 6 months ago you may not be able to rank effectively because google changes fast. Therefore we too should change the techniques!

Cheers!

Seems like a thorough linking plan, but I'm actually surprised by the effectiveness of Scrapebox and Xrumer links like you used them BY linking them to the money site.

Have you maintained rankings with this method on previous sites?

Nicely done my friend. I've used your method before with the PR comments.

As I mentioned above, Direct linking with Xrumer and ScrapeBox are not effective anymore. I only did 3000 direct xrumer that is also for the purpose of diversifying the Anchor! So, I can not expect any rank improvement with my direct xrumering.

Before 7-8 months I ranked some sites with Direct Xrumer and ScrapeBox alone! But, today Direct Xrumer/ScrapeBox blasts are not only that effective but also dangerous.

Congrats on your success, but I wouldn't advise anyone try your backlinking methods themselves. Slow and steady wins the SEO race, and xrumer blasts and mass social bookmarking can not only get your site sandboxed, but even if they do help short term, a manual review of your site can get you de-indexed or knocked down to the bottom of the SERPs. Not to mention both of these tools are SPAM tools, no matter how you look at it.

My sites all rank well and it's due primarily to steady linking to private blog networks, and I ALWAYS outrank those why still bother trying profile backlinks and elaborate Web 2.0 link pyramids. I'd advise anyone to do the same, rather than SPAM.

Less is more these days.... Blasting large numbers directly at a money sit is counter productive but moderate numbers 'in the mix' can still help.

I know a few ppl who got results recently pumping web2 sites as described here....

A lot depends on the target site though

Remember he had emd which is still a big advantage and used a diverse source of links.... Diversity always seems to win out in the end.

1) google will never start hammering sites for these methods, if they did the value of xrumer links and their use for negative seo would explode.

2) i think blog networks are better too... But i use these methods as well. Its not either or, you can do both.

I continue to increase the strength of the web 2.0 by adding more tires after that. For this key word I did not need to use private blog networks (they are very powerful and I am using them for some competitive niche websites). Moreover, I forgot to mention that my only focus was to do a cost effective & simplified strategy. Since I want to make the process as cost effective as possible I did not include things like BMR though I am using them for some of my websites

Social Bookmarking links are not considered spam like the xrumer links (Still we can use xrumer as if it's not spam - but many people fail there since it's a knife edge) & I still have some sites in the same place even after 2 months of social bookmarking. The power of these backlinks will go down by time as some links will be removed by time but the strength of the web 2.0 properties will increase over time as I will be keep on adding more tires.

And, this is an example case study. Not a success story

Congrats on your success...

However that's a lot of time and money spent on links and articles for such a low return.

I'm not sure about that. Taking a site to #1 and $10 a day in a month is something that most people would struggle with.

Definitely not a low return if you duplicate the method on 10 sites. That the golden "$100 a day" that most people are going for.

Most people are more comfortable with chasing the latest method, when all it really takes is a solid plan that can be duplicated.

This shows your lack of understanding on the subject.

I am showing one example and it does not mean that is the only site to make money out. A person is expected to have more than at least 20 websites like this. I myself have around 30+ websites that give income in various levels.

This is not my success story - lol

It's a case study to help others

How many backlinks are appearing just for your main site?

343 Now (according to Market Samurai). The day I brought this website to #1 was nearly before 2 weeks I guess.

IMHO, Implementing & sealing a method and making money out of it is much more profitable than writing and selling that method as a WSO

I run many harvests and out of 20.000 batches I'm happy if one post will be autoplaced at a PR3+ blog, and when I check the blog manually 90% of the time it has more then 200 OBL's.
Yes. That gave a huge power. I usually have enough number of good autoapprove blogs, because I am an autoapproave blog list seller too.

Not if you're pointing them at lower tier links that can handle a huge surge of backlinks themselves.

May be true if you are talking about direct xrumer links but Social Bookmarking Direct blasts are extremely powerful now. I have even ranked one (another) less competitive EMD to #6 only with a 1000 Social Bookmarking blast - Though later I added other methods to make it move further.

Blasting lower tier always works very well though.

Wow. I pity anyone who buys links from your signature, considering you clearly have no experience with anything other than basic and SPAM-type SEO.

Not only is this effect proven, but there have been case studies on this forum for people who just like you, claimed these garbage/spam links from Xrumer could never harm a site, and then when people here then blasted their sites with xrumer links to prove it (and successfully got their sites sandboxed) they still claimed it was something else and STILL claimed you can't sandbox a competitor.

Whatever man, everybody can blast Xrumer links all day, it just means less competition in the SERPs for me.

Did I ever say otherwise?

Everytime you duplicate the sites, you duplicate the process. So your ROI is still bad imo.

Why?

Because his ecpm is bad.

It seems to me he choose to rank for a keyword with low earning potential. There are many easier to rank keywords that would have made him more money.

Hes not getting a good return relative to what he could be making for the same costs.

I think this shows your complete lack of understanding to my original statement.

I never implied this was your only site.

I never implied it was a success story.

I never implied people can't benefit.

I did imply that your ROI was bad.
And once again I'll explain why.

For the same amount (or even less) of time, money, and effort you could have easily ranked for a keyword that would have gave you higher earnings.

How do you know the amount I spent for this, in order to say it's high? - This would cost high if I was ordering these services in a forum & also would have costed my time if I had dome all myself.

We can always do expensive stuff for a cheap price if we utilize the labor and resources efficiently. Te default and obvious options are expensive and we don't need to use them if we know all corners of the market.

My VA handles all the time consuming process involved, I made the plan and give all to her. (I handled a few things that does not cost more than 20 minutes a day and I did not do it every day as my VA has been on the mission) She was doing this to 10 sites(I did not do the exact same SEO that I mentioned above for all sites) and doing some other work too. I pay her $350 monthly. For one site I spent 30 for Social bookmarking & for most of other sites I used my own BMD (My VA used). She did the AMR, SB blasts as well. I am using couple of xrumer services for a discounted price due to some business relationship I had with venders and it costs around $150.

From my calculation the net worth I spent for the above website was only - $60 - $70 dollars & I recovered that amount in 5 days. This shows the ROI was excellent - much lesser than most of the people spend. I see most of the people buy very expensive services to rank but I never went in that way. A person can either do it using a trained VA or in his own depending on how his time worth to him (Time/Money ratio) - For a person who makes less than $200-$500/month it's well worth doing them in his own as the time he invested on this would probably give him at least $50-$100 day.

Cheers!

It's a really good strategy! But I think Private Blog Network links are way more effective than Web 2.0 properties! Also, PBN links will assure more permanence of your site's no.1 ranking!

There's a site that is dominating one of my niches at the moment. They came out of nowhere, after panda.

I checked out their backlinks, and found they hardly have any... and they're pr0-1.

What the do have, is loads of content.

My niche is a certain appliance.... so, after I've written the reviews, it's hard to come up with a load of original content... they did, around 12 blog posts... besides their reviews.

This, good design, and good onpage seo is why they're beating the rest of us.

Hard to know what to do these days... follow your method.... or, spend $50 on articles?

faceblogger - Can you PM details on your VA if possible? I mean if she works as part of a larger company, I would like to use the same company. How do you find a VA with so much SEO knowledge for $350 a month?

I tell you exactly how I do it and you can too by setting up your HQ China. You can do this even if you are flat broke (I did). Only $7 for a Limited Time.

Go check out Odesk and find people who work for as low as $1.50-$2.00/hr, beleive me there are plenty and they are all capable of handling these softwares without needing to teach them, some already own these softwares. The only thing that is important to instruct them exactly the way you want it and that can be done by giving them a checklist for each site. So how hard is it? If they don't listen, well up to the next one.

People who live in countrys like the Phillipines/Thailand/Cambodia/Bangladesh average around $100-200/month for a normal job, sometimes even less. They will run for $350,-

Agreed I make it sound a bit easyer then it is in practise but it sure isn't rocket science.
Yeah Odesk is the best place to hire these kind of people. You only need a VPS with all SEO tools. Most of Phillipines VA's have a knowledge about these tools.

Yes PBN is powerful. I am using it for some of my competitive websites

My VA was not hired via a company. I personally picked her via someone I know. $350 is bit high for a VA but I pay that amount as the performance/productivity of my VA is really good. The above two posts may help for you to find a cheap and good VA.

Nice to find a technique that works, the trick is finding something that works and scaling it up, ofcourse finding something that works is the biggest problem of all

Note to newbies: be careful using xrumer and scrapebox services on new sites, it's a good recipe for the good ole google dance, try getting article links instead, they usually work better in my experience

I agree. Those services are being abused and thus leading to bad results. How can a new site get 3000 links in a week? No way.

How long have your rankings lasted so far?

I used to do this but recently it doesn't work, one of my newer sites did infact reach first for around a month but then dropped to position 35.

It would be good if you followed up on this in a month or so.

Thanks for the post

Ricky

It's still on #1 (now it's more than 2 weeks). The site has got around 150 High PR blog comments(more than 100 of them will stay for months), and 20 web 2.0 properties backed up by xrumer and scrapebox. And also most the Social Bookmark links also will stay. I think they all keep the ranking. Back link diversity is always good for many reasons.

For a website like this what I would do is - I would keep on adding blog comments time to time & also increase the strength of the properties time to time

For this website I think 1 high PR blog comment in 2 days would do since the competition is very less!

I am using CTR theme. BlueSense & HeatMap themes are good free alternatives though.

2 Weeks is not long enough to tell, several of my sites ranked in this way stayed on first page for a good month or two.

And I built links all the time to maintain the rankings that wasn't the reason I was pushed down in the end. It was Google they are not stupid this method is not and never will be long term.

I have sites ranking/ranked well continuously for more than 4-6 months with similar strategies because I an not going to just stop the link building, will be adding links regularly and also feeding the properties.

Will update this thread in case the rank goes down and also the measures I will be taking to get it back.
