Default Ad placement and pricing?

I currently have my layout so I have an ad block of links directly below my navigation bar. I originally thought that even though it looked sort of spammy that it would give me a greater click through rate. However, a friend of mine just told me that google doesn't like that and will actually drop your CPC because of this.

Is there any truth to this? My CPC has always been much lower than I had initially thought it would be given the google adwords tool. Could this have something to do with it? I often get clicks that are like 5 cents or something ridiculous.

Default Re: Ad placement and pricing?

CPC depends a lot on your Content. I recommend everyone that even before you select a Topic for your website or blog conduct a thorough research of the CPC market for your targeted keywords. Some areas like Technology and Gadgets will have less CPC because advertisers conduct massive campaign through Adwords. While on the other hand topics like LAW, Health etc will have greater CPC. It all depends on the competitive keywords and the pricing of Google Adwords for those Keywords. I hope this helps.
