A few days ago I launched a backlinking campaign for a piece of content I created and I'm on page 1 of Google.com right now for the keyword I targetted. However the strange thing is that for my country specific keyword... I'm on PAGE 2...For the same piece of content. Shouldn't I be ranked better for my country specific Google search (Google.com.sg) result compared to USA? Especially since the keyword has my country name in it. Anyone has insights into this? |

Hi Idris, can you confirm that you are logged out of Google/Gmail, etc when you do the search? Just to confirm you are not seeing personalized results for either search. That could skew the results.

I experienced that trend also. Mine was a .ca domain though that ranked better on Google .com than it did on Google .ca. After about 3-4 months both were and still are balanced. I haven't ranked #1 yet but the exact same competition is still above me when I search on both Googles. My reasoning for this, and I will add this is just a guess, is that it takes longer for Google to trust a new site for, in my case, a Google .ca search. |

Is your site hosted on a US based server?

Depends on where you are hosted and where you are linking from. If most of your backlinks are local and you are hosted locally then you should rank high. Other sites might beat you in that department.

Hello! : ) Yes I'm logged out of Google/Gmail. And I don't click on the piece of content which is a YT video Quote:
It could be that I rank better in Google.com because Youtueb is more popular on Google.com ?? No idea what's going on at all. A little bit more information: The sites that are ranked on page 1 of Google.com and .com.sg are the same, its only that on ".com" I'm #5 and on ".com.sg" I'm #10... The keyword is the most popular keyword, the most searched keyword. I'm sure I'm not getting any personalized results because I've not clicked on the link via google. | ||

It not just depends upon the SE domain extension (say .com or .ca. or else) but also the geographical location from where you actually perform search. If you try (or your friend) from some other location, the results may be different.
