On all my site/blogs, which are mostly based on Wordpress, i am using the "share-this" plugin which has all the buttons. Otherwise i am not doing any "active" FB promotion except that i link on FB and tweet once i write a new post...

I am simply not that much into FB..unless i want to know what my Ex does or similar. And forget about twitter since i think twitter is extremely annoying as a "communication platform". I know, i fail at "social marketing", but then i never really needed it.

For marketing in Facebook you just need to follow the steps below:

1. Have a profile of yours as well as your business
2. Create a fan page of your business with yours or your business profile
3. Add complete information about your business
4. Link your fanpage with your or your business's twitter account
5. Invite all your friends in your business profile and in your personal profile to become fan of your business page
6. As soon as your fan page gets 25 fans, you will be allowed to add username to your fanpage, so do it and choose your primary keyword or something nearer as username
7. Make sure to post daily updates about your site/business or your niche market
8. You can also share information about the field you are related to
9. Make sure to reply to comments and your subscribers, always try to keep your post informative

Nice points but I want to clear one thing here that you don't need to have 25 fans on Facebook now to add your username to your fanpage. Now you can instantly use your username with Fanpage.

Facbook users generally enjoys images and funny videos so I would suggest to keep sharing these stuff to make your engagement interesting with audiences.

Suggesting that creating a FB Fan Page and liking it so that your friends can be influenced to liking your page through your interests is far from a decent strategy. To further educate you on FB you don't need to put a LIKE button on a created Fan Page. Facebook automatically issue you with one. However you can add a further "LIKE" But that is another discussion for another thread.

I wonder how much traffic you have managed to generate from your suggested method. Keep us update on your results?

Firstly as suggested by many on here already you need to create a Facebook Fan Page. Once you have created your Fan Page there are a few things you will need to do first before you begin promoting it.
