SEO Experiment - Can I get on page 1 in 35 days

A fellow Warrior who at this time will 'remain anonymous' in conversation asked whether getting a keyword with at least 20,000 global monthly searches could get to page one in Google with no backlinking what so ever in 40 days.

This got my mind racing away and I have therefore decided to take on his challenge, but due to the fact that we are closing in on 2011, I have decided to reduce his target to 35 days to midnight December 31st GMT, and a bit of festive fun is good for the soul..

There you will see my article with the Keyword heavily ladened with my keyword 'SEO Courses'.

I will be carrying out no further SEO, either on-page or off to aid in this process, but will be tweeting 12 times between now and 2012 to my 1300 or so followers on twitter.

So.. can just the clout of my article and it's keyword find it's way to page 1?

I will post updates occasionally on here and reveal the undercover warrior, New Years day 2012.

Update after 1 day of being indexed:

My article got indexed by google yesterday and was sitting at position 442 at the end of the day.

Now it is ranking at position 268 according to Market Samurai's rank tracker. In 24 hours it has already climbed 174 spots..

I have tweeted this twice to my 1373 followers, and had no re-tweets.

I will be re-tweeting this 2 more times before the day is out.

I've already done the same for a term that has 75k exact match for its main keyword.
It's all about competition. Just because 20k searches is more than 3k a month searches doesnt mean it will be harder to rank for.

I must also point out that my keyword SEO Courses has 45,900,900 in google, currently 119,000 exact match.

So.. this isn't an extremely competitive keyword but it is also not one easily ranked for.

The purpose of this is to help others to get a feel for what's required or 'not' to gain page 1 visibility.

Time will tell...

It's approaching the end of day 3 on my challenge here in the UK, and my keyword SEO Courses is still climbing..

It is now ranked at position 210 in Google, having climbed 58 places from yesterday and been tweeted only 5 times, no re-tweets.

So.. all good, still climbing

Day 4

My keyword SEO Course continues to climb in Google, this time yesterday it was sitting at position 210. I am approaching the end of the day here in England and my keyword is according to Market Samurai's rank tracker is now sitting at 162.

It has climbed 48 positions since this time yesterday and again without any back links whatsoever.

Something else to add here is that SEO Courses currently stands at position 426 in broad match where it shows up along with 48,700,000 competing pages, again, no back links!

I'm at page eleven 2+ million exact match title, 77,000 a month traffic took me two days. I think if I did your niche it will take me half a day after index if I construct it right.

Today lost one of my websites at first page for using a spammed gmail account to google plus it 25,000 a month - no loss just knowledge :?

Well, of course not, I was merely pointing out that after 4 days it has shown up in a broad match search at position 426, something that wasn't apparent yesterday, that's all

Wait, so the other ranking you are talking about is when you search "SEO courses" in quotes?

Who cares about that? Nobody searches in quotes.

No I don't expect this to get to page 1..

This experiment is just to show what can be done without back linking. If this was a keyword I was looking to target I would let it do what it can organically before adding links much the same way as this.

Really, it's to show what an article just out there, can do on it's own..
