I think Google keyword tool is best. It's free and helpful for providing best keyword research.

I start with Google keyword tool as Market Samurai can be very slow. Then once I have picked what looks like a good, relevant keyword I run it through Market Samurai. Whilst Google keyword does show you traffic and some basic competition data, you can't beat Market Samurai for the level of analysis.

If you want something Stupid-Simple then Brad Callen's Niche Finder. Just enter your root keyword, it "search" and it'll give you a handful of keywords that get traffic and are easy to rank for.

How can it be if it wont pull up backlinks
Mine says 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0
for top 10 google, backlinks (to page I assume)

I have had the free version for months
it has NEVER pulled up backlinks for me

I use MS as well but have been playing with the trial version of SECockpit and will probably move over to it even though it has a monthly sub of $77.00 per month but it's alot faster and has a couple of other options which aren't exactly KW related but is helpful for checking my spending per site.

I am not used to use any of the tool but i prefer the manual research for the keyword. As first find such words that highly entered by people for their query in your field , and then use those words in creation of your keyword. Though in starting , it will take some time to show the results but when you get mastery in assumption of such keyword then you will get more results.

These tools just make your keyword research fast. If you have time to spare, you can simply use google keyword tool along with seoquake plugin.

Agreed! Free is great, but if you want a comprehensive tool, then Market Samurai is the best. I was fortunate enough to buy it at a great price when it was introduced on 30DC a few years ago. Made me a few dollars, and it saved me a lot more.

A lot of tools are struggling since the YSE closure. If I recall, MS has the ability to pull data from Majestic. I wonder if TT can / will make the change.

Yes the backlinks are available on the free version..just had a quick look at it and it seems to be a good one..seo, website, research are some of features available beside the backlinks.

I know its supposed to be available on the free version
mine however shows no backlinks, 0,0,0,0,0,0,0,0

Market Samurai is 97 dollars purchased before the free trial expires,
$149 after that

my free trial expired but I just signed up under another email and all kinds of BS until it allowed me to purchase it for the 97 dollars. Not easy by any means because they are sly

but I refused to pay an inflated price.

You could always try using ezinearticles which gives 100% consistent results, not sayign you even need to publish anything with them, just save an article as draft and it will tell you exactly what keywords push you over its 4% threshold. If it doesn't then your article/content keyword ratio should be fine. I always guessed ezinearticles set these keyword density thresholds to tie in with Google for a very good reason.

Its tool which is determine the exact percentage of keyword over the web page so its really very much helpful to find keyword density.

Just dont try to overuse the kw you should be fine
IMO about 1.5 to 2 percent should be fine

all these guys saying 4 to 5 percent , to me thats way high and risky

It depends on what you mean by "Accuracy".

The reason you'll be getting different results is that keyword density is has two main ways of being calculated.

A=Total occurrences of the keyword phrase in the article
B=Total number of words in the article
C=Number of words in the keyword phrase

Keyword density calculation 1 uses:
(A / B) * 100

Keyword density calculation 2, uses:
(A * C / B) * 100

Let’s have a look at an example and the difference in the keyword density score those two formulas can make.

Let’s say we have a article with 1000 words and using keyword phrase of “search engine results page” (4 words) where there are 10 occurrences of that phrase.

So using the first formula, that gives us:

(10 / 1000) * 100 = 1% keyword density

and using the second formula, gives us:

(10 * 4 / 1000) * 100 = 4% keyword density

For "buyer" keywords, I like to start at places like Amazon, eBay, and Walmart.com, then move to keyword suggestion tools like Keyword Sniper Pro and sometimes the Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

I'm also a fan of the Google Keyword Tool, but also use Google Insights and Google Trends for keyword ideas.

The process I basically use, is to start with Google Insights and type in a keyword I'm looking for, scroll down to the bottom and find rising searches. Copy each of these keywords and use these to enter into the Google keyword tool.

There are many people that aren't a fan of the keyword tool, but this at least gives you an indication.

I also agree with feliciayapsl in relation to market samurai. This also does a good job when it comes to finding the best keywords and they give you access to a whole bunch of videos that show you how to perform each step.

I always use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool. The trick though is go deep. Find the keyword you want to research. When you get the results, put each of the top keywords you like back into the Tool. Do this about 3 times and you'll have some golden nuggets.

Wordtracker provides IAAT data for each keyword along with other organic results from search engines. IAAT stands for ‘In Anchor And Title’, in other words it shows how many pages in a search engine’s index include both an HTML Page title that contains the keyword phrase and where the keyword phrase appears in the anchor text of an external link to that page.

Don’t only rely on the Google Adwords Keyword tool for organic keyword research. The High, Medium, and Low Competition data displayed are meant to give you an idea of how many advertisers are bidding for a particular keyword.
So, before targeting any keyword use both Wordtracker and Google Adwords tool to determine the competition for a particular keyword.

I agree with David and Barry, those are effective ways to do keyword research using free resources, which many fail to do so.

Yes you can use Google keyword tool and the paid methods such as market samarai.

But I have found that there are a multitude of keywords that google likes to hide from marketers in the plain old google keyword tool.

My little secret is to use software that will dig deep down and find keywords that are searched for by Google Instant.

Good Point. I don't actually use the Google keyword tool to determine the high, mid and low as these are directly relational to the adwords

I use another method for this.
