I've just been learning about Joomla. Since so many people use it, are there any SEO downsides to using it? I was thinking about starting a content site.

I used Joomla for a small content downloads website and wish I never had used it. It was good say 5 years ago, but these days you're better off using Wordpress, whatever the type of site is you're building. Don't use Joomla, far too many security holes. |

joomla is really resource hungry, put any sort of load on it and it will slow down unless your server is good. personally I stopped using it a few years ago, and use a selection of others, mainly wordpress.

I use Joomla in some of my sites and I think that it requires more effort and time to manage SEF URLs, duplicate meta tags, etc. So I use Joomla and Wordpress but nowadays I prefer WP. |
