My site is about financial services such as business valuations and budgeting. Most of my back links are from smashingdish dot com and improveyourjobskills dot com and do not have much to do with finance...Will these backlinks improve my website ranking in search engines?

Backlinks are backlinks. Of course they help. Help is a relative term. The most effective backlinks are contextual, high up on a page, and from what google deems relevant. But relevance is relative. That's why people want sig links here. What matters most is the PR and authority of the page the link is on, not necessarily whether your site has anything to do with the linking site. Get all 3 lined up, and you have a total winner. Start creating your own web empire--blogspot, squidoo, etc., create "relevant" content, backlink like an animal. Paul |

Be consistent with your backlinking. Every link helps - though there are some that help more, as mentioned above. | |

They may or they may not... Sometimes backlinks are less related to the website but they might are important for the website which is linking to you. If you don't want to take any risk by providing them link building credit, make them nofollow. |

Yes, it will help. Remember that link is a link. If you have a chance to get link juice, do it as long as the link that you will get is not from a "bad neighborhood".
