Default 6 different sites or one authority.. any risk?

I've currently got 6 sites, lets same all in the same type of niche but different topics e.g;

black
blue
red
green
white
purple

They are all ranked on the first page for their respected keywords i was wondering would it be a safer and better option to make a site like;

colors.com and 301 redirect my old sites to internal pages of my 'authority site' aka

colors.com/black
colors.com/blue
etc.

Which would be better? sticking with those 6 sites or all 301 redirecting them to an authority site.. i don't want to get banned from Adsense for 'made for adsense' sites and i thought this would be a good idea.

If for example 'blue' was rank 1 and i redirected it to colors.com/blue would the authority site be the new number 1 rank?

Cheers!

In the post Panda world, more sites that are diversified is much better than one big site.

It is more cost-effective (and less time consuming) tom manage a single authority site. That is my preference. That said, diversity isn't terrible.

Thanks for both of your replies... its kind of tied 2 ways..

The more sites i have the more chance of a ban from Adsense...
But the less sites i have the more chance of me losing everything when it gets a sitewide penalty or gets deindexed.

Is that for sure? I mean sure you spread the risk of being slapped by google but as much as i know google likes authority sites with good content more than mns with the same good content...
Also if you want to add knew content for other micro niches in the same niche you don't have to start from scratch! All the linkbuilding you did for the authority site will help you rank for the new micro niche in now time...
BTW it's also cheaper to have 1 site instead of 6.

if you already have these sites ranking in the top for their keywords - why take them down? if you redirect to a new domain it wont have the same authority at all and eventually you will los some rank from it, before going back up - I would say if its already 6 seperate sites then keep them, if they are profitable KEEP THEM! also with ever changing google bits if one was to lose rankings youre not risking your whole operation.

It depends on what you want to do and how you want your business to run.

The advantages to having small niche websites is that you can use Exact Match Domains to rank pretty fast for your target keywords. you can look at every website as a small project and when you're done with one, just move on to the next.

Building an authority website is a larger project and it takes a lot of time, creativity and work but the benefits can be huge if you nail it.

Working with small niche websites, is more of a systematic approach to marketing, very often utilizing tactics to please search engine algorithms and get traffic from them.

It's very much a matter of personal preference when choosing one or the other.

Good Luck

If you are thinking for long lasting in your business, then go divert for single authority site. For the other side, the more the sites, more will the burden and takes a lot more effort to maintain them all.

The key is to build websites that doesn't require maintenance :-)

That only makes sense If a site is deindexed, which rarely happens.

Most people freaking out over Google updates don't get deindexed, they simply drop in the SERPs. They don't understand that Google isn't static. They also are so stuck on themeselves & their own sites that they don't look at the big picture. If one of their own pages falls in the SERPs, another competition page ranks higher.

Google ranks pages, so this alone is the death of a single page MFA. It's not the fact of the site being MFA, it's the fact that the page dropped in the SERPs. Again, it's a single page (Index page) bouncing around the SERPs, because the SERPs are not static.

That being said, If I have a 1,000+ page site (and I do) all of my internal pages will never fall in the SERPs on a single day, unless I'm deindexed, which doesn't happen to the average site. I don't care what anyone says, being deindexed just isn't a normal occurrence in the SERPs.

Why run around in 100s of directions with no order creating 100s of 1-5 page sites in multiple niches when a single authority site could dominate an entire niche & all related keywords for that niche?

I think most folks are just scared when they see the word authority, because they are scared of doing the upfront work.

I have a few large sites. What's really cool about large sites is, once the first large site is built & collecting targeted niche traffic, I can start a 2nd large site in the same niche. Once the 2nd large site is live, place links on the old authority site & I get an instant flood of targeted traffic into the new site. I've personally done this & it's just awesome, it's like flipping a switch On/Off for free targeted traffic.

I'd also go for the authority site. Indeed, this is what I'm doing for some time.

Today, I published the 1300th article on the website. I've written mostly all of them by myself.

Things are getting easier from month to month. New articles rank faster, when you have something to build on. Real quality backlinks are easier to aquire. Life comes to those websites.

It seems as if there were a lot of people here earning big money with small niche sites, anyway ...

Yukon doesnt google devalue the second page if its coming from you too?
Or do you use a another webhost or ip?
Im fiddling around how I can dominate serps and two or three sites in the same niche seem to be perfect for this but Im scared that google says "wait 3 pages same theme, same ip, same owner..something fishy".

Im not speaking about identical websites.

An what about that warriors?
- 6 different micro sites and one authority site?
Like a branded authority site and several micro emd's in the same niche which are also linking to each other.. I just dont know if I can/should use one adsense account on each of them.

Cheers for the feedback guys!

I'm going to research a bit more on the 301 redirect. I'm highly thinking about 301 redirecting all my sub niches to an authority niche site, but i want them to retain rankings, and if they don't then ill guess ill just have to settle with the individual sites.

Because currently i'm ranked near the top, so page 1, after 301 redirecting it to a subdirectory of authority site i want the new subdirectory to replace it at number 1.

Cheers again guys!

Another I guess interesting question; would you install separate Wordpress blogs into your authority site pages or use categories and one Wordpress install instead.

Wordpress 1; colors.com
Wordpress 2; colors.com/red
Wordpress 3; colors.com/blue

Or would you just use one install of Wordpress for your whole site? Which would be easier to rank?

Wordpress 1; colors.com
Category1; colors.com/red
Category 2; colors.com/blue

I'd go for an authority site as you could focus the backlinking to one site and multiple pages. Your traffic may come instead of thinner it with multiple one. Just my preference. Thanks!

Thanks

Also another question;

I would also have to look for different IP blog networks for blog posts etc right? because i heard you can't have multiple pages with exact same IP's and ranking tactics.
